Corolla in Japan (aka Auris) is between 2-2.35M yen. while 86 is 2.4-3M yen (excluding the RC as we are not getting it)

that's like AUD$5-8k different between the 2.

lets just assume that their base Corolla is our Ascent Sport and the Corolla range here is $28 - 35k. if we are to apply that to 86, in theory 86 should be $33k - $43k on road.

Try 24,500-25,500 drive away base accents. As low as $21990 when on special.

Each to their own i guess but unless its around 30k i wont be buying 1. Well not in the first yr of release.

yeah but they don't have this "poverty" model in Japan lol

you gotta compare the equipment levels too....

and throwing in special deals etc just brings too much variable into our assumptions.

It's ironic that those placing orders and putting down deposits, hence driving up the price are the ones complaining that it's too expensive.

My dealer called me this morning to say hello and all that... nothing concrete still he said.

I told him to let me know once they have confirmed pricing and we'll go from there!

If the top spec lands in the $40-45K (on the road) ball park, we're happy with that. If more I'm going to hit the eject button, spend more on renovations and buy something else in 2 years time instead.

I agree with you guys, on that marketing info... they could not have go the socio-demographic anymore incorrect.

but while we placed the order, we told them how much we are prepared to pay and made damn sure if we are not happy with pricing, we will get our money back.

How many new cars have you ever bought?

What is going to happen is the pricing will be released, you (I mean the collective you) will complain, they will refuse to cancel the contract, you will cry, they will offer you a little discount, you will then buy the car for a lot more than if you've waited, thinking you've won lotto.

Time will tell. They know a lot more about who buys cars than you do.

LOL Have you ever preordered a car before...

Contract is written up with the clause of ... if i don't like colour selection, price or how it feels when I test drive it... or even subject to finance as well... so there is a lot of get out clauses. (too lazy to fix spelling and grammar)

Time will tell. They know a lot more about who buys cars than you do.
but who would they more likely to listen to:

(a) any kid on the street crying about pricing; or

(b) a potential buyer who put his/her money where his/her mouth is but cancelled the deal becos of the final pricing.

with any brand new model, it is common where no discount is available for the initial few months. that's how this industry operates. if you want discount, please wait.

btw, although i've put down a deposit with Toyota, i am more than happy to jump to a BRZ if it offers more value (ie. better spec and or lower price). and i have included sufficient pull out clause on the contract i signed.
