Its messages like these that really make me want to give you guys abit more understanding on the dealer and how it works but I'll keep this about the chirping pump only. I'm on here pretty often looking at the problems everyone's been having getting it fixed and how the dealer is handling it on arrival so thats one of the biggest reasons I started posting the latest TSB's. Because I work in parts at the dealer I'm just as much responsible at times as the techs for getting you guys whats needed. What i've found out so far is that ALOT of the technicians are seeing this noisy pump as a job similar to the Camry and Avalon (as do many DI cars) which also have a mechanical ticking (although they don't chirp) sound that has NEVER been fixed. Its nowhere near as loud or as bad but its definetly one of many factors. I hope we see a true fix soon and I'm definitely keeping an eye on it for us all and my own car. Also, you have to remeber that you are dealing with PEOPLE and these same people are getting advice from other PEOPLE who may/may not know ALL the facts about an issue but go by past experience which is also a people element. The MYTH (I would make this word alot larger if i could) about this whole thing is that just because Toyota/Subaru makes the car ALL the techs should know what to do immediately and the truth is that a new car is a new car to EVERYONE. The thing that separates us from outside shops is that we get the info on how to POSSIBLY/DEFINITELY correct the issue first. What SAVES you initially is that these issues are WARRANTY and you are required to pay NOTHING and would probably/assuredly be the opposite via an outsider. NEVER do we EVER get your car expecting/trying to ROB or STEAL from you and trust me if we found someone who did they are gone because that 1 person can leave us ALL without a job and who wants that? Does anyone ever go to a job interview saying "Hey I'd like to work for you but I'm not good at Toyota cars and will probably destroy a few!" IF/WHEN that persons true nature shows itself he/she is gone!!! Feel free to ask me more on anything because knowing what I know from working at a dealer for 10 years now it would be the first place I'd go for my new car up until warranty is gone for sure. After warranty dealer use depends on lots of variables. As I said before, please for those of you who have taken these steps, continue but also try to follow them everytime listed below.
1. Print the TSB and take it in with you to the dealer. 2. Leave the car running when you enter so they can hear the chirping active as they write up the car and get a tech to come out and verify if possible. (More often than not the car is cold by the time they see it and takes alot longer than the required 10 mins the TSB asks for to start again. There is also a sound file they can listen to and confirm the sound via our systems.) 3. Remind them that the TSB entitles you to try at least 1 new pump fix regaurdless of what they find and that this pump is alot different from the Camry or Avalon. But don't be a jerk about that part. :-) I am VERY sorry to hear alot of you are being turned away and trust I've done alot of educating my techs on it because they questioned and almost denied mine as well. 4. Be patient about the pump arrival because the average wait time is 10 days at the moment. Hopefully these few suggestions help you guys. I am not here to defend any dealers actions because I don't know all your circumstances and who you dealt with but 90% of the time its probably NOT all of what you think. The MAJOR problem I'm hearing is that it seems these Service Managers aren't budging enough to help out and others are misinformed (like alot of humans right) but again I don't have all the facts. Hope we can all get it fixed soon. Personally I still LOVE mine and won't let a warranty issue change my mind. |

Chips are normal wear and tear. However, Rattles and Creaks are covered under warranty -- Hence, due to the Lemon law stating "if it's covered under warranty" -- It could fall under the lemon law. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kge2GkRWEmo"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kge2GkRWEmo[/ame] I don't know why you're fighting me on this when I fought and won against Nissan for a rattling/squeaking car when the dealer(s) failed to repair the issue over 3 times. |

everyone has concerns on their new cars.
some members are very new to car world and some others are very familiar with it. I personally threw out warranty as soon as i purchase it. as long as it's not major problem on engine, transmission, i replace with better aftermarket ones since i modify cars anyway and hate to deal with "oh you have heavily modified car and your warranty is now void" crap. if i am keeping my car as stock, i probably take it in and deal with it. All cars are not perfect and they all have problems here and there. some minor defects have been fixed under warranty as you mentioned, OP. |

A) Because last time I checked Toledo Ohio (where the OP's profile indicates they live) isn't in California, so the qualifications you are stating don't apply. B) The post I quoted gave the implication that anything that lowers value is grounds for a lemon, which isn't even true in California. So, um Yeah, Lawyer-ed... ![]() But hey congratz on your lemon return. Last edited by Seattle944t; 01-30-2014 at 11:30 PM. |

OP has the same issues I have. I disclosed them to the dealer, even replaced the pump once already but regardless I'm gonna turbo it. I love this car.
