the invoice is the price the dealer paid for the car, right?

why would a dealer sell a brand new car at the price it paid for?

Because dealers don't actually pay that for the car.

truecar.com breaks it down for you. Built into the invoice price is the dealer holdback, which is the built in profit for the dealer. So the true cost to the dealer is invoice-holdback. Many Subarus sell for below invoice prices. New car dealers make a lot more money on parts and service contracts, trade ins, and financing than they do on new car sales.

anyways we should probably take this discussion to the pricing thread. it is OT here and will probably get deleted.

Okay, I'm officially ordered finally and I've put my deposit down on a car at Findlay Subaru in St. George, UT! Luckily I'm #1 on their list too! So I'm getting my car in May. For some reason they couldn't select the subwoofer on their order form but I'm not super worried about that, I'm sure they can get that figured out before I get my car. So glad I got this worked out.

Hey, all. I am a new poster to the forum, though I have been lurking for the past week and some change.

I just placed an order for a lightning red limited at Beyer Subaru in Alexandria, VA. The only accessory I picked up along with the order is the autodimming mirror w/e-compass.

I am currently driving a 2009 TL SH-AWD :meh: and a 2010 Ducati Multistrada 1200 S :swoon: I am planning to sell the TL, and looking to pick up an honest, fun to drive car. I was told by Beyer that I may not see my car until August/September since I am # 5 on the order list. Maybe I'll get lucky and there will be less of a wait since Lightning Red is not the most popular color (probably because it adds 65 hp, and most folks can't handle it ).

Either way, I am looking forward to hanging out on this forum, y'all seem like a good group of people.
