I've driven an 11 v6 a 12 boss 302 and a 12 gt500. I loved the 302 but mustangs aren't my thing. (they were my grandfathers toys) I've always been a classic American muscle or import fan. The v6 is great for what it costs but bei tall I didn't like the feel/view I had when I had the seat adjusted to be comfertable. Also the interior was nice but it had the upgraded saddle leather trim package on it. It even handled decent. But just not my cup of tea.

Mustang is a great car, but I never consider buying one. Had driven the last gen GT and GT500, but never driven the new one yet.

Thinking about picking up an 03/04 Cobra instead of getting an FR-S/BRZ... lol I should totally stay out of this thread. I don't belong.

Assuming you're talking about the manual transmission, both V6 and V8 versions have always had the same Getrag MT82 gearbox since 2011, just different gearing.

These two cars serve two different purposes. Both are great. I have owned a mustang and it was very nice. Great muscle. Cop magnet though. They really love to pull mustangs over. I'm not joking.

Had an 04 Cobra. Not even a comparison to the FR-S/BRZ. Just changing the pulley and getting a tune will put you at 400+ RWHP. This car is truly balls to the walls fast. But, that's not to say it doesn't have weaknesses... Driving that car on a daily basis is not very pleasant. Has one of the stiffest clutches I've felt, and the shifting is very short and notchy. But, stepping on that thing is very enjoyable! Hearing the whine of the supercharger is a very unique experience.

I've also owned a slew of other stangs couple old 5.0s and an 05 GT.

Anyways, good luck if you go that route. But, not really a comparison in my mind. Personally, if you have the coin you should go 2011+ GT or even Camaro SS (though, I'd rather have the stang).

Not really looking for an alternative to the FR-S/BRZ, just wanting a fun vehicle. I've been a fan of the Cobra for a long time, driven several. Just not a huge fan of the retro stang looks, but it's finally starting to grow on me (now that they're about to be gone)

I actually am more so considering that route now, the '13 GT looks very appealing, but that makes me want to hold out for the 50th anniversary... Thinking about maybe getting a 03/04 Cobra just for fun for the moment.

I really think if the new Mustang sheds a few pounds I may have a new favorite car for 2015. I'm excited about the possible 4 cylinder turbo model as well.

I've driven a Mustang GT from that era and I thought the same of that transmission.

I guess the simple fact is that the FR-S/BRZ may very well be $25k+... Heck, the BRZ may even be close to $30k.

I absolutely can not justify that purchase while the Genesis Coupe and Mustang are out and about. No way no how.

I know the FR-S/BRZ is going to be that fun cute little sports car, but not for the same price as something that has twice the hp.

And no it isn't all about power, it's about fun (in many cases). And 400+hp is very very fun, in a different way.

The MT GT gets about the same gas mileage as the MT FR-S/BRZ (based on buyers reviews), and the V6 gets even better.

Come on FR-S/BRZ... Show me that $20k-$21k price tag... you can do it... maybe... eh :/

I know that it's got great power and even handles great now, but I still have to live with it every day and it just simply is not there yet IMO. If they can bring up the quality of the materials (inside and out) up a notch they would be in the hunt. As it stands now, it's just will always be the "cheaper" alternative.
They drastically improved the interior in 2010 for the mustang.. My dad has a 2008 mustang v6 with exhaust.. And opening her up is the best sound/feeling in the world. The fr s interior will be equal to or lesser quality than the 2010+ mustangs..

Your celica is as fast as a V6 stang? You must have some serious mods then since the celica was a high 6 seconds car stock and the stang v6 is in the mid to low 5's.

The v6 only does this if you tune the car to go faster than the stock limited 118 mpg. The dude on youtube was going 136 because he tuned the car and not only increasedthe engine load, but he bumped top speed capabilities up to 140...there we go.. Tuning did it. Everyone knows that tuning is risky..
