Custom Aluminium Diagonal Braces For Engine Bay Strut Tower Fire Wall

im making custom aluminium diagonal braces for my brz.

Any suggestions on design?

i was just thinking of copying the stock braces and making it solid. not hollow like the oem. i can copy the part almost exactly but i will make the mounting spots a bit thicker. or should i make the bars thicker also?

i noticed that there are adjustable aftermarket diagonal braces.
i think a fixed design is better.
anyone care to chime in?

I think this is supposed to go to the suspension/chassis forums. But I believe there are a few braces available.

Hollow bars are stronger than a solid bar of the same weight. So if you are going solid you can use a much thinner bar than stock to keep the weight and strength about the same.

Honest question: what prompted you to want to build your own when there are some very attractive options out there (I have the GrimmSpeed myself but there are more). Is it the price?

That reads like a contradiction.

I'd go with a design like the AEM. In fact I'd probably just buy the AEM.

im getting this made for free
also the price.... cheapest i found was $190 shipped

also for free
1. getting my aftermarket shift knob counter sunk for the reverse lock out.
2. getting my cusco drift knob copied a few times (with a different lip on the end and maybe an 86)
3. having a tow hook bolt made with the correct thread for a resonably priced tow hook i bought (not even close to the cheapest price of $100 tow hooks ive seen)

so with all of that, i feel like im saving around $400 and ill have unique stuff that no one else has.

any suggestions for other parts i could have made?

it cant be anything i dont have exact measurements of.
it cant be anything that if removed from the car i wont be able to drive (need the part in my hands or an exact measurement.)

For the same strength a solid bar will be much heavier than a hollow bar.
