Greetings and salutations!

Just a nobody here, residing in the ever so lovely, Las Vegas, NV.

Finally decide to create an account and (somewhat) introduce myself after lurking the forums since the FT-86 concept days.

Bought my 2014 Raven FR-S on Nov. 1, 2013 (great way to end the year, begin the holiday season, and start the year off right). Currently at 26xx or 27xx miles (I don't drive everywhere, even though it's my daily), with all the chirps, crickets and woodpeckers galore (didn't notice them till my friend pointed it out at about 15xx miles).

Yep, I reckon that auto is much more relaxing in a heavy commute. Welcome to the group!

Pay no attention to your friend that pointed out insect and bird sounds.

The sounds that you hear are the sounds of a highly sophisticated, advanced technology, ultra high pressure, fuel injection system.......developed by the space program .......

Fast forward to 2 weeks later, and I was able to pick up a '13 whiteout for a pretty decent price. any who, just wanted to stop in and share my story BTW, any advice for a first time RWD car owner for driving in the snow? I picked up the car yesterday and its supposed to snow tomorrow! no time to put winter tires on
CONGRATULATIONS .........

Welcome to FR-S ownership .....

About driving your FR-S in the snow without winter tires .... best not to do it.

If you have to ...... go real slow and don't make any jerky moves.

thanks! i'm gonna have a hell of time in the snow. just found out that the car came with Michelin Primacy HP's. i've already put 100lbs of kitty litter in the trunk and a collapsible shovel. Hopefully that would be enough to get me home in <1 inch of snow for 6 miles.

Yep, I've found out that those tires are good on the dry, fair on the wet, terrible on the snow and non-existant on the ice.

Oh, I hope that "kitty litter" is NOT the self clumping kind .... because, if it is, when it gets wet, it turns into a slippery, slimy, goo-ie mush .....

Be careful out there!

Garage
Been lurking here for a long time, registered recently. I have a '13 Whiteout FR-S MT. I must say, prior to this the most fun I've ever had in a car was in a Miata but this definitely has taken top spot. So far I have dealt with the popping sounds on startup as well as crunchy 2nd and 3rd gear shifts, I'm hoping the transmission will ease up as it breaks in. No fuel pump crickets here but gas in NH is ethanol free and most seem to think the ethanol content is the culprit.

Friends can't believe I bought this car since I've always been known as the frugal guy (I'm in my 30's) but my late 90's DD Protege is wearing me out and it's nice to have a fun vehicle to take out when the weather permits. I get a ton of stares in this thing and it's bone stock, I have yet to see another FR-S or BRZ on the road around me in Northern NH. Just the other day some guy told me he thought it was a Lotus. I have no plans for mods other than some better summer tires once I wear through the stock Bridgestones and maybe some new 17x8 wheels since I think the stock wheels are pretty ugly.

Anyway, glad to be here and definitely appreciative of the wealth of knowledge on these forums.
