Light Weight Pulley's
All-
Can someone provide some feedback with real life experience with adding light weight pulleys onto our ft-86? Is it really worth it? Regards, Exam23 |

There were some recent threads on this
This is even on the first page of the Engine, Exhaust, Transmission page This was on page two I have no personal experience but I hope this helps. Seems like people are either die hard for it or against it.

My Perrin Pulley is still on my car, still 0 issues, looks great, feels great. Lighter pulley seems to make the throttle a little "peppier", but don't expect a huge change with it. I have not changed any of the other pulleys though.

I have the pulleys and a DSS carbon drive shaft. I look at it this way, taking any sort of load off of an engine will do it good and more so when you combine it with lightweight wheels, drive shaft, and fly wheel. This was my first mod from stock and no matter what the debate is, I did notice a difference.
also, I have been running on the Perrin one for over a year now with no issues.

Perrin is only a crank pulley, just so OP knows it's not a whole set. I think they have plans to make a set though.
edit: FR-S Matt beat me to it

Ive been running a Perrin lightweight for about a year and a half now, no issues at all whatsoever. Looks great under the hood, might have made a tiny difference, but nothing very noticeable.
For the price I think its worth it, doesn't hurt, adds a bit of "bling" and maybe feels a bit better. |

Here is a link to Perrin's pully if that's what you wanted.
OP: Keep in mind getting a pulley will probably void any warranty work done with your engine at the very least. Other people argue that pulley's are useless because the closer you are to the center of a rotating mass the less effect lightening will have. I'm sure someone will say that lightened pulleys aren't dampened so it could cause engine damage. There are probably other downsides and counterarguments as well, not that I'm trying to argue, just making you aware so you can decide. Try searching around a bit, like the 2nd thread I linked in my first post has a lot of these arguments in it.
