Does anybody else know of any powerful supercharged cars other than HKS and Evasive?
Who's got the most power supercharged on the stock internals? I remember seeing somebody doing a fully upgraded innovate kit pushing 300whp but I can't find the link. Rather than going turbo for power, 400whp supercharged does seem very appealing.

On pump gas you'll be lucky to hit 300whp with any of the supercharger kits, from what I've seen. Very little headroom, can't use an ECA boost comp with flex fuel, so... Turbo ftw lol. At 12.5:1 compression with a decently sized turbo you'll put a lot more area under the curve too. There's really no good reason to go sc unless you're just partial to them or have a specific purpose where it may be beneficial (autocross maybe?)

that said, the supercharger will always have an inherent boost response advantage. it's just not as important as having 100whp worth of overhead and the ability to truly leverage flexfuel imho. |

I can't speak for any other maker's turbo kits, but ours is definitely track proven in the heat, from the AVO Japan car that did 80 laps during one day in Japan, to the several cars, in several countries, ranging from the Fensport UK car to the Taiwan race cars. Multiple pulls on the dyno, multiple laps at a circuit have not been an issue.
Drift Office can verify the multiple runs - they've held the car on a dyno for hours on end. Here's a back to back comparison of run 14 and 15. And as noted, our oil scavenge pump is unique amongst all the other kits, its a mechanical design that runs off a clip on the back of one of the camshafts. Out of a 160 kits that we've sold, we've had zero failures of that pump. I've got 20k on the one in my car! |

Overhead only matters if you actually use it. Most people will not.
I'd love to see a video of the AVO kit on the dyno, hood closed, doing 10 back to back runs. It should be a total length of... 3-4 minutes for all the runs. I seriously doubt any of the off-the-shelf turbo kits will *fail* on track. My concern is the loss of output as they heat soak. |

I can probably arrange that in the near future, I've got some testing of the latest ecutek rom's to do.
Seriously enough though, what heat soak are we talking about? Heat Soak as a term is usually something that affects the intercooler. And the intercooler is going to get heated up by the compressed air charge, which happens whether it's compressed by a turbo or a supercharger. And it'll get cooled down by the air flow past it. The turbo itself, though, will start spooling better and better as it heats up and retains the heat. A cold turbocharger doesn't respond as well as a hot one - heat blankets are as much to keep the heat in on the hot side of the turbo as to keep the heat out of the engine bay. They got popular on Subaru's with top mounted intercoolers because the turbo in those setups sits right underneath the TMIC, which led to heat soak of the intercooler, especially in traffic. Our turbo sits underneath the engine in exactly the same spot as the current exhaust manifold, an area already prepped for heat because of that. |

Radiant heat in the engine bay, the turbo itself heating up the intake charge from the cold side being hot, the intercooler heat soaking, generally everything underhood getting hot.
In a perfect world, the hot and cold side of the turbo would be isolated, and heat shielding would completely isolate the piping on either side. How do IATs look on sustained or back to back pulls? How is ECT affected by FMIC placement? How are engine oil temps? EGT? |

I don't even see a price! What a good deal... haha
How would this compare to the more well-known/popular kits? or is this another poopy @OrbitalEllipses ? Last edited by 1086; 01-28-2014 at 06:23 PM. |

Curious how the new JDL kit would fit into this thread. Seems possible to fit the 5k price range with their base price
