I believe that Rick said at some point that the twins were not the car to have in CS (obviously debatable), so that is clearly a factor in the PAX disparity between CS and STX. The CS Miatas and CS 350Zs have to compete in STR right? I think if we complain too much about how CS PAX is too close to STX PAX, then we may end up getting the twins bumped to STR.
Also Henry, I noticed that a CS Miata won top PAX at your last event right? I still agree that the Street PAX values are very conservative, but maybe it's not so bad for the CS Miatas and 350Zs? Or is the guy that got top PAX just a ridiculously awesome driver? |

Terry Tabor is a multiple national trophy BS S2k driver. That site, Deland, has less grip in the dry than most sites do in the rain. His soft compliant suspension and lack of power helped, he'll even admit.
He's probably our second fastest driver, only to F-Mod savant Darrin Seltzer

I am lucky in that, for now at least, I only race local. So no national events. There the twins do ok.

The only upside to the Zs being too much for the class is that they are really expensive to operate. Very expensive tire size and they chew through said tires quickly. Hopefully that deters most. I'd hope the "win at any cost" ballers are all in big money classes and not in our lowly stock, street tired class.

Skill level. I grew up on high rev lo torque cars. I loved twin webers, just not tuning them.
With some more development, the BRZ will do fine. It is still very young. It is an incredibly well balanced car. With a 20mm sway on, I HAD FUN!!!! I know this is a bit late, but at the last autocross we conducted a little bit of an experiment.
We took Brian Peters (current STR champion in his 350z) and he drove our (simpleisbest) FRS and Jeff Stuart's 370z back to back in the same heat. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yLgNyhYMP8"]1-19-14 SoCal C-Street Xrun - YouTube[/ame] 71.628 in the FRS w/ the following mods Koni Yellows, 245 BFG Rivals square set up, tanabe front bar [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-eyvbmPXLY"]AAA 011914 Brian - YouTube[/ame] 71.104 in the 370z w/ the following mods Koni Yellow, 285 RS3 square set up, (don't recall if he has a bar yet) So as you can see just over a .5 second slower. However now, lets throw in a different variable. Guy Walker is a veteran driver on his comeback tour in his 370z runs a 72.632 with a lot of visible mistakes. I would consider that a more open nationals style course. You can see in the three or so faster acceleration areas how much faster the 370Z is... for obvious reasons. At like 50s in the first video there is the tight left hander and you can tell by engine noise the FR-S is probably sitting in the torque dip. The transition stuff seems pretty equal. Brian would have easily been in the 70.x range without the mistake in the 370Z run.
370Z doesn't seem to be having any problems putting power down on street tires... |
