I expect they have special ice-breakers keep the routes open lol.

It gets pretty rough here in the SF Bay Area too! Sometimes it frosts in the mornings, and occasionally it rains too. lol The other day it was really windy.

My shop got the new downpipe and radiator/fans/shroud installed. Unfortunately, there's still no clearance between the fans and downpipe, and the upper collector as well.

It has maybe 1/8'' to 1/4'' clearance (I wrapped the downpipe so it's actually touching), but when I looked at everything, I found what I think is a solution.

While the Spal fans and new radiator with shroud are much better, 1/4'' clearance just isn't going to work in the long run IMO. It just seems too close to not have the fans fail. If they fail, and the temps shoot up as fast as they did on the dyno, I won't have any time to catch that even if I'm watching the gauges closely, SO......

We are moving the radiator forward.

I looked and found that the lower radiator posts can be mounted in new holes, drilled about an inch or so forward, and the upper mount holes can be notched on the mounting tabs to get an extra 3/16'' up top.

This will give about 1'' to 1.5'' of clearance. This is enough to then add some heat shielding, and end up with something I feel OK with going forward with.

I am surprised at how close everything is, even with custom fitting the radiator.

I understand you need to keep the downpipe as far away from the intake tube as possible, but the DP could be a different shape and offer a lot more clearance I think.

I'm having my shop install everything. While this is not beyond me, I don't have a lift and power tools that make working on cars easy, so I chose to have my shop do the install. I've gotten glimpses of things when I check in on the car. The goal is a turbo car that will run as a daily driver.

Full blown has been great in helping to get this install finished, it has been frustrating so far. Hopefully the car will be back together tomorrow and we can get back to tuning.

Hi Mike, Ryan and I spoke on the phone and both agree that replacing the upper brackets is best way to free up some room.

We are going to machine new brackets and overnight them to you.

We will also be supplying these brackets with every kit from now on.

Anyone who has our kit that wants the these brackets, please contact us and we will send them out free of charge.

could we see pictures when you get them made? how much space would they get you and would you still need to drill new holes at the bottom?

Thanks very much!! Your customer service is the best!

The upper brackets help with some extra clearance, but the most clearance will be gained by relocating the lower mounting points. It seems to be as simple as drilling holes directly forward of the original holes, and grinding on a couple pieces to allow the radiator to move forward over an inch.
Also, the radiator hoses up top do not allow much movement forward, maybe 1/4'' if you unbolt the filler cap, whereas the lower hose easily allows the bottom of the radiator to move forward over an inch with no issues it seems.

IMO, the lower mount modification is a better mod than the upper mod, but both is best IMO.

On my car, we'll be doing both the upper, and lower mounts, because I want as much clearance as is possible.

Any chance you can get some pictures of how it looks now along with pictures of the modifications and the end result?
