Ok... I skimmed through the comments and nobody can tell that the thing in the trunk is the gas tank? Really? From the pictures that I've seen of the car, I've never seen an external fuel door so it would make sense to have that silver metal bit on top so they can control spilling while they fill it.

Silly people.

Not much new is shown since this appears to be the same original concept car first debuted at the past Tokyo Motor Show. The only new element seen is the trunk being opened during prep for the show, which is likely a fuel cell (placed there just for concept use purposes). The open trunk also shows that the FT-86 does not feature a hatch (as some speculated) but a standard trunk.

When I read fuel cell, it seems to imply one of those Hydrogen Fuel Cells to produce electricity. I'm sorry, but I've never heard of a gas tank being referred to as a fuel cell before.

You will experience a crazily fast acceleration, but it's all in your control. Don't worry buddy.:happy0180:

That being said, I do like hatches better b/c I can easily fit bulky items like a surfboard or bicycle through the back. Toyota should consider cargo/passenger space in designing the FT86 b/c it's the only significant energy suspension parts advantage it will have over a Miata since they are priced the same now.
Just what I've thought. If the price are the same now. I would rather choose Toyota FT-86 than that of Miata. Because I like the Ft-86's sophisticated look.
