You are not going to be able to go to a Scion dealer and buy a FR-S off the lot. Not going to happen at least in the first 3 months. If you think they are going to make many more units than the BRZ, you are in for a rude awakening. If you are able to order a FR-S...it will be MSRP. Any cars found on the lot could be higher than MSRP because they might have loaded them up with extra stuff that you don't need like special undercoating and paint sealant.

You are also not going to be seeing many BRZ's under MSRP too, unless that pricing is too high.

We all know it's because of more than that. It's clearly his witty banter... and the good-guy pricing he's arranged down in Florida.

Oh man, can't believe I missed this. VOB are some sleazy bastards; probably one of the worst dealership groups in that whole area.

My Evo VIII had a $7k market adjustment. I told them I planned on taking home a car that night, but I wasn't paying a market adjustment. I ended up getting it for $1k over invoice. Seriously. Don't pay the market adjustment just to get a car. You can always find a dealership willing to negotiate.

its hard but patience is key, the internet def will make it easier because shit dealers will be made infamous and good dealers will be referred. Like mentioned above early on its def not gonna be easy, but toyota/subie has made us wait almost 5 years now, whats another 4 months...and if you gots the cheddar then why not just pay the 20% premium to be one of the early adopters :P

Still leaning toward the FRS simply because nav doesn't interest me, HID can be added aftermarket, and the lower price will keep this firmly planted in the guilt-free part of my psyche.

Half of me enjoys the BRZ exterior but the other half wants the more aggressive FRS look (front end). I trust both will drive similarly enough but what if one really suits me over the other? It could be that the price is close enough that a slight handling/feedback preference with the BRZ could more than sway me to the Subaru side of things. (Which is cool because I secretly want to combine WR Blue with a big TRD wing!)

So to answer your question (sorry for rambling!) -- I have decided to test drive both and go from there. For me, it is more important to get the right car than to be the first in town with one. : )

No, because it has never happened. If dealers charge over MRSP, it's because there are people willing to pay it and when/if they don't sell then prices will come down.

MRSP hahaha, I'm gonna start using that from now on.

+1

the entire thread topic is ridiculous. No dealership will charge over MSRP on a car that they can't sell any of. The price would drop like a rock. Do people forget that dealerships finance these cars? The longer they have them on the lot the more profit is lost.

all you current scion owners, how'd your sales process go with the Pure Pricing? were the dealers asking anything over MSRP and in the other hand did anyone successfully get them to come down from the MSRP/pure price??

I paid MSRP + TTL; no destination ($750), no dealer prep, and a free TRD rear sway bar ($205).

It is easier to over charge on extras like different wheels or vinyl wrap then to make sure every car has the same bs markup everywhere it may be posted.
The only times I have seen a scion for more then msrp + ttl/dest is because they have loaded it with crap. I have been to almost every dealer in my area over the years and its always been the same.

Msrp is only about a thousand or so over invoice on scions. You are most likely only going to get less then msrp when the new year models are release, to get rid of the old.
On a new one you may be able to get a free option like the guy above with the free sway bar.

If a model a dealer is getting doesn't have someones specific order attached, many will load them up with all kind of extra cost and try to force sell that one instead of requesting what you are wanting when you walk in. If you are willing to wait, you can get them to find and get only what you are wanting with no BS options to mark up (or do your footwork to see who might have or be getting what your after sooner)

Its been this way regardless of how hard to find a model is. If you can wait, then you have the most leverage

I've bought 2 scions and neither has had any BS or cost added to them.
I went in, told them exactly what I wanted, and that's what they got for me.

Now, if the scion is used, no matter if someone only had it for a month/lease. ALL THE PURE PRICE GOES OUT THE WINDOW and a dealer can do whatever they want. Lol
