just picked her up on saturday

picked her up from the dealer on Saturday, and upon putting about 100 miles on it since then I noticed a metallic clanking noise every time I shift into 2nd gear from 1st. Just wondering if its normal and if it will smooth out once the break in period is over. anybody else have this problem in brand new cars?

Just take it to your dealer if you can replicate it, clanking noises are never good. Thats why we have warranties.

Welcome to the Community!

I love my lightning red brz. Im sure you're going to have a blast with yours.

As for the clanking noise, Take it to the dealer and have them look at it. Whatever it is, im sure they'll cover it.

If you have any question regarding a specific product/part for your BRZ/FR-S do not hesitate to email or PM me!

Hello txptkxhse3291 and welcome to the forum and FR-S ownership .....

Thanks for serving our country ....

It seems that most of the manual transmissions in these cars are bit notchy going into 2nd gear, especially when cold.

Does the clanking sound go away once the transmission is fully warmed up (after about 5 miles) .. ??

These transmissions tend to smooth out after a few thousand miles, however, like mentioned up above, you may wish to have the dealership take a look see. Maybe shift another one on the lot to make a comparison.

Enjoy your new machine!

Don't assume just because it's a new car that all the fluids are full - check them

I started changing all the oils after 1K miles

Change your transmission and differential oil. I did this today and found my dif drain plug like this and the tranny plug was almost as bad. It helped quite a bit with getting into second gear.
