After removing the key from the ignition, my pump stays on for about a minute then shuts off. I think this is normal behavior.

It didn't stop until we pulled the battery. We tested again after reconnecting the battery and had the same results. What's going on? has anyone experienced this?
Mine did this too.

It did it before I turned the actual car fully on, but I also think it had to do with air still being in the system. When I first put the car to the on position, then shut it off, the pump would stay on for a WHILE. At first I thought this was normal, but once I finished getting the air out of the system and actually turned the car on, the pump would shut off after like 5 seconds.

Finish getting the air out (you will know when the pump goes silent and doesn't gurgle), then test it after turning the car on, then shutting it off.

speaking of getting the air out, my coolant was a tad bit lower, so it must have pushed out a tiny bit more air out of the lines. I topped it off today.

Pump pump pump blow blow blow blow she said.
Give a blow into the coolant bottle to add a little pressure to the system, you will hear the air move around if any in the system. Just be damn careful when you release the air do it slowly as it has back pressure into your mouth.
Believe me coolant taste yummy NOT.....

As mentioned you will hear the pump change to a smooth quiet sound when it's pumping properly.

Take a small amount of coolant with you when you first run, the car as you may need to top up on the road for the first couple of km.

Also interesting there is a small filter in your coolant bottle make sure it's clipped in properly by turning it clockwise. Heard it can interrupt the flow if not in properly.

Enjoy

Have you seen the level of effort for this? Seems like a pain in the rear. I wish it wasn't.

Ive just changed the plugs with OEM Denso at my dealership. Im hearing that i should have opted for colder plugs or closed the gap on the OEM, which is required for Supercharger.

Just trying to establish more around this and if valid.

Yeah it's valid. Usually when people force induct a car they add a colder spark. From what I remember you have to basically drop the engine to change them. I could be wrong.

well that's good news. I'll reflash it this afternoon and see if she starts up. does anyone know if it's safe to drive without the coolant circulating? My parents house is about half a mile away and they have the warmth of a garage that would make bleeding the coolant much easier.

As long as everything is sealed, I don't see any issue with it not circulating for a short cruise. The coolant will likely heat up quick without circulation but a short drive shouldn't be a big deal. The only thing that would warm it is boost pressure, so I'd just take it easy.

The easy way would be to raise the engine a side at a time by removing mount nut and using a block of wood and jack on oil pan. Basically if you can get the plug holes to clear the frame rails it becomes really easy

Foresters have the same heads between the frame rail situation because the subframe has spacers that lower the engine and the angle of the tie rods since the platform is basically a lifted impreza

Changing plugs is doable (at least on forester) without lifting or dropping the engine. But it pretty much requires putting things into the hole one by one, socket, extension , etc and working with 0 space, it is a big pita though compared to a typical engine.
