if you buy new and import new, you won't need to factor in on road cost cos you are not going to register it in Japan. but if you buy used in Japan, then the used price calculation will need to factor in the on road cost.

please compare apple with apple. if say the drop in value is $5k, it should be from $38.5k and not from $35k.

Yeah, I am all for discussion on a forum.. Otherwise I wouldn't sign up to one, well several actually... But when a topic has run it's course, why continue on with it?
whether it's run its course is entirely your opinion. others might or might not think it has. if you don't think it's worth commenting on, don't.

When people DO take things out of context and take things too seriously, I see no point in continuing the conversation further. That only brings conflict.
And you did quote me out of context. You said that i think posting on a forum is a waste of time. When I actually said looking deeper into importing an 86 was a waste of time. That's WAY off target. So, when someone tells me I said something that I didn't, of course I will correct them.
i didn't say posting is a waste of time. you said continuing on this discussion is waste of time, no one is forcing you to continue. you can certainly move on.

Seriously, I had a big reply typed, but I am not going to bother because you will just keep quoting and picking it to pieces. You seem to be set on being right with all of this, even when things you say don't line up with previous comments. So, the only thing I am going to say is don't twist my words around anymore. I DID NOT say that the discussion was a waste of time. If you even re read the bit you quoted, as I said looking into importing one further is a waste of time. I NEVER made mention of the discussion being a waste of time??
So as far as I am concerned, you can continue you to think you are right and I am wrong, it doesn’t bother me man We all have opinions and they have all been put forward and commented on, if you chose not to accept that yours isn’t the only opinion that may have merit, that’s up to you as well.

Area 86 will be a small merchandise display/sale area at Toyota dealers in Japan. it isn't launched until 7 April 2012.

when it opens, maybe they will start putting stuff up on the website as well.

next time i go to Japan (probably mid 2013), i'll surely drop into a Toyota dealer listed on the page to check them out.
