Yours is the classic sunshine American perspective: "Danged ol gub'mint was just trying to help us out but they got swamped and accidentally screwed us over for the thousandth time." which is good, and we need optimists who see the best in everything.....but let me give the curmudgeonly realist perspective in the words of my ex girlfriend. "If you screw someone more than twice you're doing it on purpose." Multiple aliases, the cherry picked forum responses....this is rotten. The scam is to make like your helping to get things rolling. you need some spokespeople/person...a hypeman...the guy in the crowd who loudly proclaims "thats a deal!" and makes a big show of forking over his cash. it needs legitimacy. And in the beginning there has to be some returns. Like madoffs first investors. then once good business has been drummed up, the problems start. excuses, feigned cooperation. bad communication. half of people will just give up. Too lazy to even complain to credit card companies.....you just blatantly screw them. John hennesy elevated this to an art form. The other half you divide into two categories.....the cases that will be very publicly (and frequently referenced in the future) made right....and the ones you want to grind out. You keep the scam going until you can't...then change names and wait for the next sr20/frs/wrs/juke etc. One guy in another forum rightly pointed out the possibility of multiple persons involved. I trade penny stocks aggressively....and I can tell you....when the sharks descend it is a thing of beauty...there are these "debates" where hard nosed skeptics are won over with "proof"......these "experts" who speak in the Wall Street jargon wow with their purported grasp of the situation. There are always alleged personal connections....but what's really happening is that a group of individuals are colluding to fleece idiots out of there cash....and they play different roles to give the impression that the discussions are organic....but they are sooooo scripted.....and they are good at what they do.....anyway.....I digress.....i dont think what's happening here is scripted, however it doesnt need to be to function identically. suffice it to say there are far too many similarities between an intentional con and what's going on with Toni or doyen or whoever for me to give the guy 20 bucks. Also, I personally greatly appreciate those of you who have continued to pursue this. Whatever the outcome you have saved people from being needlessly parted with their hard earned and that's right on. There's some good peoples here. *edit* With regard to that welding......that's intentionally atrocious. That's not a QC issue it's a joke. They should refund you the cost of materials since basically that's what you purchased. Last edited by TexasChris; 01-20-2014 at 03:54 AM. |

Lol at the couple of FA20 fanboys in here... I'm glad I came across this.. Saved a chunk of tax return money for junk.. I should've known when a local started having gaps in communication for his tunes.. He now goes else where and his car is now running smooth..

as long as they pay the bill i'm sure they will. this forum is not a community service. it's a commercial enterprise with a profit motive. they'll do what makes them money, just like any other business.

My problem with him is he's clearly known of these issues for a while and has made the same mistakes over and over again. Something simple like hiring someone to do be a web based manager who also deals with customers via phone and maybe an in house welder as well. Clearly these people won't be freaking amazing straight off the bat but you have to start somewhere. You can't just keep making the same mistakes just to stretch out that extra dime. |

The shoddy workmanship would make you constantly worried about problems. But then again i might be wrong in expecting my 5K to buy something that works correctly and is a quality product. Ah well, regardless of the FA20club defence force they will loose customers and potential income as these stories surface more and more.

He's not honest. When someone screws you and claims it was an accident it's best to proceed as if it wasn't an accident***....because best case scenario they didn't not screw you on purpose....which is reason enough to be very skeptical. I'd really love to do a write up on all the similarities between this situation and some classic short cons.....the more I've thought on it the funnier (using that word loosely) it's become. -----------------. *** as the op did. By writing off his initial cost as just materials and fixing it himself. That's a wise move in this case.....sure hes out a few bucks and a few hours but the less you have to do with a conman, the less likely you will be conned. |
