300awhp? Lol. You mean a downpipe and tune? That's not what i meant by "pushing power". 400+, which should be fairly simple if the motor didn't need to be built.

Drop in pistons are NOT the solution. That's just a bandaid...masking the real issue at hand. Don't ask me what that issue is, there's a million page thread on iwsti and no one is 100% sure what the root issue is.

edit: just realized there's 2 of you saying you ran 300whp with no issues. That's a downpipe and a freakin tune. Who the hell cares? If that's good enough for you then i envy your poverty goals. I wanted more from my 2011 STI and so had to build the motor. It was not cheap.

yeah, i'm with you. don't know what happened to the production process along the years. i've got and still own an '04 with no issues but i'm not pushing big power either. seems like after '07 the ringland issue popped up and anyone trying to make power since has had to rebuild with new internals.

ej257 is a good engine overall but wouldn't buy a new 2015 unless it was it was up on hp and mpg.

Yeah what a shitty motor. 300whp and a mountain of torque from 3000-6000rpm with a downpipe and tune. Wtf is wrong with people? You have to build the motor to make ridiculous power? Wow that's seriously worthy of whining. Do you even hear yourself?

What car doesn't need anything to reliably put down double the amount of power it came with stock? When did it become shitty to lay down +65whp and +100ft/lb for < $1000?

What's shocking to me is the horrible gas mileage even in this time when MPG does mean something for many performance cars now.

It seems alot of cars are disappointing me.

GTI doesn't have multi port injection
Golf R doesn't have E-LSD
STI has old engine

I am looking forward to FT-1 Toyota.

Wat? GTI has direct + port injection says: http://blog.caranddriver.com/audi-gi...rbo-diesel-v6/

Though I agree, the pace at which little tech features and upgrades are being adopted is painfully slow. Cars still ship with open diffs when you can just add an electronic brake "differential" like McLaren and Lotus and such for pretty cheap, manufacturers seem to have plenty of research on how to make engines more efficient but they keep selling the old engines and milking customers. Well, at least Toyota is finally offering 6 speed on the Corolla, but the 1NZ is almost 15 years old and it's still being built by the millions.

Toyota did say last year that they're planning to revamp everything in 2015 but I'll believe it when 1NZ goes out of production.

European GTI will have multi-port.

VWvortex pictures confirmed Mexico made GTI does not have MPI at least for the non performance pack version.

You mean direct injection right? :P All cars have multiport injection. Throttle body injection doesn't pass emissions.

It's a bit more that that, especially with an 08. You're complaining about it being expensive to build and then insulting me with my "poverty goals"? What does that even mean?
