That's old school. A good automatic ac you set the temp like you set the thermostat at home and then forget it. You folks do have digital thermostats in your crib right? This is 2012 you know. Lol!

Now I agree dual zOne is kinda of a waste buy there are Plenty of two sweater cars with dual zone ac.

Subaru and Toyota could have gone with one single zone automatic ac system across the lineup but like I said it is what it is. Hopefully the price difference will reflect it.

I once fit a 18ft long cylindrical bag of pole vault poles in a Miata so a snowboard should fit in the FR-S

I have dual zone automatic in my Santa Fe and I hate it in the deep winter. I'm always messing with it. So yah, even with cost being equal I'd take the manual controls with the big dials.

Haha it's cool to be old school especially for folks in the deep snowy winter areas. But us folks in the warm southwest we like to set it and forget it.

Also not all Automatic AC systems are build the same. Some are definitely better than others.

I was enjoying reading this thread until I started seeing comments like this.

I have to ask (maybe this is not the right time or place) but what's with all the Subaru versus Scion comments lately? Not just in this thread, but everywhere on this forum? Since when did everyone on her become brand snobs and eliteist douchbags?

Since when was owning a Scion a bad thing? Just because owners like to personalize their cars? Isn't that true with almost all cars this days? Why label an entire car brand with negitive stigma? It's not the car's fault the owner ruined the looks with giant wing or whatever.

I have to admit. I've seen more of this attitude coming from Subaru fans then the Toyota/Scion fans. I could be wrong about this, but this has just been my observation so far. Maybe I haven't read enough threads on here yet to see it the other way around.

My point is, let's put all of this nonsense to rest! Who cares if one of us buys a Subaru and the other a Scion. Why should the brand make any difference? We all know Subaru is manufactoring the cars and if you take away all the minor differences, they are totally the same car.

No offense but I'm sort of sick of all the Automobile racism I've seen being posted here. Replace the words Subaru and Scion/Toyota with say a white person or black person and we're talking full blown racism here. Why does this have to exist when it comes to the FT86? It's the exact same car just like how you and I are all human.

Please, let us all put the brand racism to rest. Argue the differences all day long, but don't put the other people down just because their ideas or tastes are somehow different.

/end rant

Sorry. I don't mean to be a pain. And I really didn't mean to single you out either.

It's just I've seen a few examples of this since joining this forum and personally, I believe it just degrades the quality of the discussions entirely. Not only that, but as a new user to the forums, its a huge turn off.

Again, sorry if I kinda pointed you out here. But someone had to say something. I didn't mean it to be personal.

I'm sort of trolling, sort of being serious because racism is more passable when you joke about it.

Nope, still totally trolling

I had a feeling the drama llama would show it's ugly face when it came to Scion vs Subaru, but honestly it's safe to say people who honestly think these cars are different are completely ignorant brand snobs who can easily be ignored. Under minor aesthetic changes and some extra luxury features (weight) on the Subaru, what's the difference?

In my opinion Scions up to the FR-S are shit, and I wouldn't be caught dead in one, but I'd honestly rather have the front of the FR-S so I'm willing to swallow my pride and drive one regardless of the badge/brand stigma.

On topic, we know everything in these cars will be completely interchangeable most likely. If you like the BRZ digital stack and GT-R/Lambo-esque trigger switches then good for you...swap your stack. I've also had a lot of people tell me the stereo in the FR-S is ugly, and the BRZ's nav looks better. No shit. Who doesn't swap their stock radios out anymore? Especially in cars that are so easy to do so in.

I'm not buying this car for the stereo, the climate controls or even aesthetics, I'm buying it because it's the car I've been waiting for in terms of driving enjoyment and the whole formula in terms of RWD, manual, lightweight, N/A. Personally I could care less about the look of the stack or stereo as long as they work, but that's just me.
