SiriusXM Radio Non-Authorized Renewal

Probably just my bad luck, but just a heads up...

Had to spend 29 friggin minutes with the cancellation dept at SiriusXM. So, the SiriusXM free subscription included with the car expired on 12/5/13. Shortly after it expired, the sales calls began to flow in asking me to re-new, but I never showed interest (or didn't answer). The last sales call I got was from this dude who sounded like he was straight from the streets. Somehow this dude was able to keep me on the phone for a couple of minutes and started throwing out the special promotion rates. After a minute or two, told him no thanks and if I became interested I would renew on my own from their website.

This MF ended up renewing my subscription without my authorization. I received a phone call today saying "my subscription has automatically renewed and that I am accruing a balance and that I needed to pay so that my service wouldn’t be interrupted.” I was able to call them and get everything straightened out, and remove all my contact info from their database.

Because of that guy, I will forever hate SiriusXM and possibly all satellite radio companies

I received 2 calls from them in one day last week. The mail started today. Serious pain in the ass.

Hopefully I didn't accidentally renew against my will.

I haven't had Sirius in six years. I still get mail from them.

However, every time I called to cancel they'd give me several free months. So I probably paid for three or four months and got almost two years of service.

Fuck yeah. I drove to Vegas this past weekend and with all the options SiriusXM gives there is zero chance of boredom. I listened to the basketball game with scores on the screen, then hop top comedy, then Electric arena then Hip-Hop Nation to satisfy the hood in me.

I will never give this unethical company a dime of my money. A quick internet search will reveal thousands of complaints with same recurring theme. They lure you in with a low introductory rate, lock you into non-fixed rate open ended contact, make it impossible to cancel said contact and then send you to collections when you don't pay. No thank you.

What receiver did you have and how long ago was this? There is 7 comedy channels right now. You can't have a narrow interest with SiriusXM. I love soccer and basketball, I listen to wide variety of music. There is nothing better than driving in an empty freeway, surrounded by nothing but mountains and deserts and being able to switch the channel to old western station. Love it.

I pay $140 a year for both Car and internet service. That's $11.50 a month for an amazing array of options. I canceled twice (changing cars) and never had problems with them.

...i'm starting to sound like their PR, but honestly it's worth every penny.

Yep, just talk them down in price. Being without XM is horrible. They will negotiate.

I have had XM for over 10 years on all of my vehicles, even my motorcycle. I can never listen to a commercial over the air again.

..... ya, sort of you are .....

I understand that they put up a new geostationary satellite this past October, that places itself at about 115 degrees West. That should give better coverage to the Western parts of the US.

.....and NO, I ain't sellen the service ....

Well, yes, we are sort of on the NW edge of their service, even with their new satellite, on the 115 degree longitude.

However, since I try to avoid big cities ..... the only things I've found that will cut the signal are mountain cuts and dense tall trees. However, I'll take those over the middle of Nevada, where the signal is GREAT ....

Honestly - sirius is pretty nice to have but if you pay full price you're an idiot - i pay 6 months at a time and after it ends they call me and tell them i'll only keep my service if i can keep my rate of $25/6 months - they usually transfer me around to about 2 or 3 higher ups and then tell me they'll make a special exception for me - try it out! definitely makes it worth it!

...Also, if it doesn't work the first time hang up and call again til it does - i used to work at a car dealership and they would charge people $75 to transfer their 'lifetime' subscription to a new vehicle but i would keep calling until i could find someone to do it for free (hint: if they have a 7-11 accent, you should probably hang up and try again)

I've been getting calls daily for about a month from them trying to get me to renew.

I probably would if the sound quality wasn't so shitty.
