Alternative to clear side markers?

Hey guys this is my first post and I'm thankful already for all the great info you guys have put out there. I absolutely love my 2014 FR-S, and was wondering if you guys had tried to simply use "nightshade" on the amber side markers to "smoke" them out. This seems like too obvious of an answer, but I still want to ask it despite the risk of being ridiculed. Just remember we were all newbies at one point. lol. I sure that tinting the markers is probably against DOT regulations or something, but hey a man can ask right? Thanks again guys for all the awesome info. I'll get some pics up soon showing all the mods you guys helped me put in so far.

Search can be your best friend. My post count is slow low bc pretty much most questions have been asked.

To answer your question yes you can tint them, but it isn't DOT legal. There are also vinyl overlays made by bluebatmobile(he's a member). Or you can Oder some JDM style clear, or smoked side markers. I have the smoked JDM and I love them.

People screeming "just use search" is my biggest pet peeve on forums like this.

I just got in on this group buy and am very satisfied with the markers. I would highly recommend them.

I did a very light coat of spray on tint, doubt anyone not familiar with the car would even be able to tell.

uniQue

I vinyl wrapped my stock sides with chrome then trimmed the edges so legal amber would show through at night.

has anyone straight painted their sides? its a good question since replacement amber sides are really cheap on ebay. Plus if anyone gives your crap about them just pour some gas on a rag and wipe the nightshade off. Anyone else?

planning on pulling my set of clears apart and de-chroming the non-reflector part of the insides-- it will make for a darker appearance without killing all of the reflective properties..
