Naturally the dealership couldn't replicate the issue. Has anyone had the dealership see the actual issue and even attempt to do something? I'm assuming not.

I have occasional connection issues. I have only used one phone (HTC EVO 4G LTE) and I am always listening to music streamed from the phone via BT. Randomly, it'll just disconnect. Sometimes it will reconnect on its own, sometimes I'll have to cycle BT off/on from the phone. This is not frequent, but it never makes any sense when it happens mid-song.

I've also reset my phone a few times (installing mod OS, etc) and every time I have to connect the phone from scratch, it's a huge hassle. It'll connect and work fine at first, then the next time I start the car, the audio will be horribly choppy until I turn BT off/on. After a few days of deleting/repairing, it starts to work like normal again.

The biggest issue for me, though, is the mic. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, has trouble hearing me. I absolutely hate making calls from the car because I can't make myself understood half the time. I've fiddled with the mic volume, but it's never very good. As much as I hated the NAV system in my '10 STi, it was worlds better than this.

At this point I have tried literally everything. Including starting BT after the car has started; it made zero difference. This headunit sucks.

I never have a single issue connecting to my $25 BT receiver and my other ~$50 Logitech BT receivers at home. An my phone is about 20 ft away also. So it's not the phone or a compatibility issue.

Must I really go back to my ancient aux cable ?

This morning as I drove out I held my phone (custom rom HTC1) above my head for about 5 mins. This is to make sure it's not a reception blocking issue. BT was turned on after the car was started. Since it was cold (35-ish), I also had the rear defroster on as well just to heat up the antennae.

It couldn't care less as it disconnected me twice in 2 mins. Sigh...

I should know it has nothing to do with the HU warming up e.g. Because on many occasions, I have driven for more than an hour, stopped for gas, started it back up and it still disconnects with greater frequency.

My Galaxy S3 had a lot of issues when I first got the car... I had the Subaru dealer do some firmware upgrades which appeared to help. Since my phone last downloaded an update from AT&T it has been completely useless and is just like you described (and it did this prior to the Subaru update in the past).

I've attempted re-pairing the phone, turning bluetooth off and on in different orders from the headunit to the phone and it just keeps dropping. It connects, and drops on/off every 30 seconds or so. I would bring it up to the dealer but they'll just say that it is the phone since it worked before the latest update...

My suggestion is to call the Subaru customer care hotline and complain. I plan on doing this myself as I'm PISSED at how $#!tty this headunit has behaved!

I had a similar problem with my HTC DNA, then I noticed that after a OTA update from Verizon that there was 2 bluetooth profiles in the nav unit. after deleting one, problem resolved. I would check that.

I'm having the same issues with my S4. Repeated BT drop out at least once every minute. I just deleted all user data from the HU and deleted the car multimedia from my S4. I ran setup on the HU and paired the phone like it was new. Same BT drop out as soon as I drove off
I also found two profiles for my same phone. One had the model number of the phone, the other had my name on it. I deleted both and paired but it still drops BT connection.
My S4's BT works with any other devic, including my wifes 2013 Escape with Sync, photo contacts and all. I'm going to make a service appointment.

I just found this compatability check on Subaru's web site.

http://www.subaru.com/owners/resourc...oth/index.html

After inputing my car and phone data it say my S4 is fully compatable in all areas except single contact transfers.

Go to "Check Your Phone Compatability". Give it a try.

I have an HTC EVO 4g LTE and I had issues recieving text messages as well as some disconnecting. After reseting, trying different roms, and finally going back to a stock based rom I realized that if I had a large amount of text messages, it would not load them and if it did load them it would disconnect constantly. I figured that if I delete my texts more frequently (I back them up just in case I need to go back to something) and have under 50 messages total than it transfers both my contacts and text messages in a reasonable amount of time and does not disconnect on me. I assume it has something to do with the HU not being able to handle or store all that data that it transfers when you have a ton of text messages. Try deleting all your text messages except maybe a few and see if it helps, you may have to resync your phone though.

The problem there is that the phone then undercharges when plugged into the aux usb port as the phone software won't allow the port to deliver more than 0.5A in current, thus with the newer phones, the phone's battery discharges while being charged due to the under driving, and the device gets majorly hot as well. A really DUMB thing, that, and it's the phone's firmware that's at fault there. AC charging mode, no issues.

I'd use my phone as a usb mass storage device for the HU to read files off of if it weren't for the under-charging problem.

Other than that, get an aftermarket HU. The stock Nav HU looks cool and seems cool at first until you start running into all the little annoyances and nanny features it has.

I just tried turning my Samsung S4's bluetooth on only after the HU system booted up and everything worked perfect. No drop outs in 1/2 hour of driving. Phone, contacts, texts all worked with no BT drop. : )
So no problems for now. I'll try again on the way home.

I remember now that with my iphone 4, I had to make sure the phones BT was on before starting the vehicle.

Looks like this phone is just the opposite : /

,.,.

BTW SirBrass is that really a GT5 reply shot? I have the game but have never had time to play it yet.

I need to make time to get into that. I finished all the GT's up until GT4. I allways had the official GT steering wheels. I downloaded the BRZ in GT5 when I first got it. : )

Yep, my samsung S4 is working flawlessly as long as I turn it's BT on after the HU boots up. Others may want to try this even though it doesn't work on some phones.
