Probably just got bored of the car. It's what some people do with new cars, they buy them, and make them amazing. Get the recognition, and decide to move on to their next project car. Where as I will be keeping this car for years to come, some people just like that thrill of building a car to what they feel is it's peak, selling it, and doing it all over again on a new platform!

Why is it some people have a natural dislike for OEM and feel compelled to change everything? If they were given a $200k+ supercar would they do the same thing?

I believe it's about adding your own personal touch to your machine. I even if I were fortunate enough to have a $$$ vehicle, I'd still like it to reflect "me!"

I can see that -it's a shame when individuality goes overboard then all of a sudden it becomes rice and the car is ruined. Unfortunately this will happen once the car becomes cheap and plentiful in the secondary market.

Dreading the day you see beat up twins with whale tails, chrome door/hood/trunk edge protectors and stainless steel fender trim molding.

I want to have my twin be like the Miata from Looper. Showroom quality in 20 years time.

No rice, just flawless paint and a nice set of shoes.

Like a Sir

Well once you go rocket bunny your car is pretty much stuck that way with all the fender cutting. My guess is that they got bored of it and since they can't return it to stock it's just easier to sell it and move on to another car all together. And like most show cars they were just built for advertisement so once they have lived out their purpose there isn't much use for them when the next best thing comes along.

Every mod brings compromises. Some people compromise the hell out of their vehicle and then find out they do not like it so much anymore so they pass it on to someone else and buy something new with the hopes of recouping some of the money they have dumped into it.

There is nothing that compromises the FT86 as much as the RB kit. If a widebodied car is used as a daily driver it will show its age quickly no matter how well it was done. they are pretty much suitable only as a show car or as a drift car where constant maintenance is a given.

Obviously, I am one of those that do mot find the RB kitted cars "amazing" but then that is just my opinion.

When that happens, my not riced-out twin will be all that much more special. Just like any old clean Japanese funcar.
