I guess I'll get all that figured out once I start going to autocrosses. There won't be any major mods between now and then.

Yea, modding cars costs money, racing them burns it even more. Ease into it whenever you're ready. Now that I think about it, I don't believe we even allow adding lexan side windows unless it came from factory in NASA (eg. GT3 cup car). Yup!!!

http://www.nasaproracing.com/rules/time_trial_rules.pdf

10. Safety
Front driver and passenger side fixed/Lexan windows are specifically not permitted unless they are factory installed during the manufacturing of the vehicle. Both front side windows must otherwise be in the down position while on track.

I. a. 7. No Points Modification
Lexan windshield, rear window, and rear passenger side windows (windshield must be 3/16” minimum thickness). (See section 10 Safety regarding front side windows) No uncovered holes are permitted in rear windows. Holes covered with tape or other non-porous material preventing air movement are permitted. Rear window removal without replacement is not permitted.

I'm not worried about racing or even driving on a track. If I'm going to spend all that money on a track day, I'd rather do it on 2 wheels.

I have no clue. I don't know anything about that stuff. I'm not trying to be competitive, I just want to go out there and change directions at speed.

I'm not an AutoX guy, but I do go out every once in a while to support the guys. I don't do SCCA autocross. I'm an official with NASA, and our classing is pretty simple.
The car is a base D car. So that means it starts out stock in NXD (nasa autocross), TTD (time trial), PTD (performance touring - wheel to wheel racing). There is a minimum base weight (car + driver) allowed of 2775 and power to weight ratio of 14.25:1 . From there you have 19pts to play with on mods until you get bumped into the next class.
Mine will be a TTD/PTD car for 2014 (cage required for w2w racing, so closer to the end of the year).
Longterm, however, NASA ST3 is power to weight ratio of 9.0>... doesn't matter how you get there. 315rwhp and 2775lbs, or 285hp and 2550lbs. Clearly, I believe in weight-loss, so going that route.

Depending on what is removed by the end of the process. You are most likely going to be in SM.

As long as they let me drive, I don't really care.

racing is always more fun when you have a chance at winning though.

I'm in the same boat. I'll be running in CSP this year, and I know damn well I won't be competitive.

WHATCHY'ALL KNOW 'BOUT DAT!!?

Dash is finally out. Very pleased. I have to go grocery shopping now, but you can expect some new numbers later on today. I was very pleased with how surprisingly heavy it was. Again.

Duct tape making it all possible for the time being.
