Yes, haven't decided whether to go plexiglass or lexan, but I will definitely be doing one or the other all around eventually. I'm also thinking 4.88 final drive and definitely a carbon fiber driveshaft.

Keep in mind if you do the front window you will need support in the middle.

Similar build to mine but I am putting the cage in.

The Heater Core/AC Unit was quite a bit of weight but also leaves the need to get a few holes filled on the firewall. Once I get mine to start again I will get it weighed and we can compare where both cars come in at. I am in the middle of the same diet, bit more race car extreme with items.

I'll be doing the AC delete last since I do use it. You don't know about how much it saved? Did you get the JDM AC pulley thing?

Very interesting build. Curious to see what other weight reduction you have in store.
Have you considered the RobiSpec front lower control arms, they are around half the weight and have heaps of adjustability. (I need to get some later)
Could also remove the washer bottle completely(or us a smaller reservoir) and just apply Rain-X

I have not considered those. Brakes, final drive, and driveshaft are currently at the top of the priorities list, so I'm not too worried about specific other parts just yet. If those are still the lightest when the time comes, then that's the ones I'll go with.

And yes, I took the reservoir completely out. I was surprised at how big it was. It didn't save a whole lot of weight on its own, but compared to it being full of fluid, it's a pretty big deal. And it's all the way at the front of the car, which is one of the better places for weight reduction.

Weighed stock car with only ~2 gallons of fuel. 2681 lbs. Starting from there, 200lbs off 2750 isn't too difficult. Getting to 2400lbs with a full cage however, I fear I may have to get even more extreme than this.

Lucky for me, the doors will not get glass or lexan. That should be a nice ~40lbs of glass before lexan.

Yeah, that cage is going to break your balls. The windows will help a lot though.

If the car'll be driven on the street, I'd hate to see the poor sob without windows when it's raining.

Yea, I'm anticipating ~100lbs for the cage. If I did a 1 1/4", the lightest it would come out is about ~60lbs, but I'm not skimping on safety, so that will be the make it or break it point.
Hurry up and get to 2300lbs already!!! lol!

The only thing that concerns me about the windows is creating drag. I think if I was going to go that route, I'd just not have doors or a trunk lid at all. I wonder about the aerodynamics of not having those things, or even having doors but no windows or trunk lid. The air would be able to escape, which seems like a good thing, but then you'd also have faster flowing air going through there, smacking you in the body, and I have no clue about what it would do to your handling, such as creating lift, turbulence, black hole, etc.

I have thought about it before though. Because what's lighter than really light doors? No doors.

As you make major modifications, the big thing you have to do is to pick up a rule book for whatever class you plan to run in. Even time attack will have build rules, so build as light as you can for whatever group you plan to drive with.

All our competitors with glass windows are required to run windows down. The only exception is a fixed lexan. But in a roll over, I'd like to not have to worry about dealing with that, since I don't fully trust most of our local corner workers at our race tracks (half the time, they're volunteers who don't want to think on their feet). Just pull the cam lock, drop the window net, and drag the body out through the open window. Its a safety thing, I guess.
