Yeah his car looked horrible. That he found someone to buy it with those pictures just proves the age old saying "there's a sucker born everyday".

I'd call bullshit on his claim that he sold it at the price he wanted ($22222), but who knows? like you said, a sucker is born everyday

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51384 Edit: Just looked up used car pricing on Edmunds, with my area, bone stock black FRS MT in 'clean condition' (not perfect) with 15k miles came out between $19k trade in, $21k dealer retail, his listing of $22k isn't unreasonable considering the 'enthusiast owned' angle and 'added value' of any mods the buyer would be interested in. |

If the craigslist poster really wants to sell that car the easiest way would be to swap all of the mods back for OEM parts. Even if the modifications were done correctly and tastefully, it puts the "what if" question in the heads of potential buyers, which leads to lost sales. Not worth it! Strip it back to stock and sell the mods separately to recoup some of the money.

The dude seems happy with his 86 ownership experience (present thread excluded) and is satisfied with his dealings that got him a more practical four door. Not sure what your goal is. And doing a quick browse through the engine bay seems to have come together nicely, despite the spray paint debacle. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52257 |

Orange paint was plasti dip, we had a can left over and wanted to test it in the engine bay. Only was on the engine bay covers a couple days. Traded the car in toward's my wife's new SUV, they gave me $21k for it (which I thought was extremely fair from a dealer) and I took 95% of the parts off first. I much enjoyed the car, and will probably buy another similar platform in a few years time, but currently need a larger car for carrying people as well as AWD for my new house and work location. I don't understand why my personal preference of car styling has somehow genuinely offended some of you, but I really could care less. Simple and sleeper is more my style, but I had a fun run making my 86 flashy and rally and out of my comfort zone. The Perrin show car parts were definitely my trophy, and ended up looking real nice spicing up the engine bay. I had a lot of locals that almost cut off their left nut for that car, whether ricy or not, it was a blast, flowed well (in person, anyway) especially after removing the rally lights and putting the grill back in, and was a well-spent year of my time. Maybe not the best spent money, but what the hell, I don't get it from Daddy, I work hard for that money. The new owner just bought it from the dealer yesterday, with the custom exhaust, Perrin Tune, shifter, and a few other things still on it, and my friend (his salesman) says he hasn't seen a happier person buy a car. Everything worked out great (except, like you said, this beautiful kind-hearted thread) and overall it was a fun run. So stop spreading the hate around, and go buy the last few pieces from what I parted out, lol. I would love to turn an FR-S into a full rally style, but there's not too much besides my little canyon up the road to warrant it, so there wasn't enough motivation to put the right suspension on it, different rims, etc.. I was planning on taking it to the cleaners.. or at least clean look.. next summer. I tried flashy crazyness with this.. its just not my style.
