Exclamation OpenFlash Tablet: USDM Stage 2 EL/UEL testers needed

Hi guys,
Got some new Stage 2 maps that are ready for some controlled field testing. We are pretty excited about them. For now, this release is only for US customers (C and D type ROMs) running aftermarket headers (catless) on gasoline (not E85). Either EL or UEL headers will do since I will provide maps for both. These new maps are considerably different from previously released tune files. Both in terms of mapping and in terms of packaging. With this beta release, the maps will be provided in database file (.dev) format, not a ROM file (.bin). This means that once you upload the .dev file, the tunes will be automatically generated by your OFT once it determines what software version you have. They will not be downloadable, viewable or editable which means you will have to run what we give you

So please email me (shiv@vishnutuning.com) if you would like to test these new maps. Again, this only applies to US customers who those running aftermarket cat-less headers on gasoline. If this applies to you, please write "Stage 2 beta tester" in the subject line of your email. Also, please include the following info:

1) Octane of fuel
2) List of modifications (just engine/exhaust/intake related)
3) ROM type (ie, ZA1JA01C, ZA1JA01D, etc,)

I'll accumulate a mailing list tonight and will email the maps to everyone tomorrow just in time for some weekend testing

Cheers
Shiv

Very excited to try this or whatever it turns into by mid Feb when I expect my nameless header. J700C is in this mix? Is there something different about the older maps besides not inherently having the DI fix?s

It does not matter if your CAL ID is 700c, 900c or a00c. With our OTS maps they all effectively get updated to the latest a01c ROMs. In other words, all the OTS maps for any family version (C, D, G, K, etc,.) are the same with the exception of a few bytes that designate the CAL ID.

I misread that and thought that you were looking for a tester for the OFH... which I would have gladly volunteered for. I am so excited to get my OFT... I just need the damn thing to ship and UPS to be fast. What sort of changes are so drastic that you are looking for outside testers? Or is this just for the new closed map (presumably for CARB compliant tunes)?

Are you going to release .bin files later when it's tested, or can we call it CLOSEDFLASHTABLET now ?

Why is everyone so freaked out about .dev files?
Do people honestly believe the OFT would give up a core aspect of its appeal particularly when they have helped move ecutek into the end user market? Why on earth would they backtrack?

Of course the maps will be released at .bin files. This will be done after the beta testing period is over. It makes more sense to keep beta maps uneditable for the sake of testing.

And to all those who emailed me, thank you. I should be able to send out beta maps (.dev) tonight. Just have to make different versions for all the different C and D family rom types.

They wouldn't but it is a convenient excuse for the trolls to come out and play.

I actually wrote a rather lengthy research paper in college about the cultural impact of what was then this new amazing thing called the Internet... I expected much more highbrow deviance. Instead the up and coming generation has devolved into "u mad bro?" bullshit. How useless do you have to be in order to derive self worth from making someone angry. Making people angry is incredibly easy and takes no skill or intelligence. In fact idiots seem to be the most successful at it. Hmm
