Looking good. Liking the runner lay out of the manifold, looks like it transitions nicely into the collector.

Looking at the cold pipe being next to and above the down pipe, even with that minor gap, heat transfer will happen. I say gold heat reflector tape at the least on that cold pipe. Your BAT's will thank you.

you won't have issues with iat's due to the downpipe/charge pipe location. mine are faily close too and i thought i would, but they never materialized. in reality the temps will read high sitting still (moreso than normal) as the heat radiates up into the pipe and the air is all just sitting there. as soon as you get going, the mass of air starts moving and the iat's drop to whatever your intercooler will allow for the speed your moving. for me, it's typically within a few degrees of ambient if i'm going anything over 30mph.
theory is that once the throttle is opened up and you're under boost, the air is compressed (i.e. lots of air mass) and moving very fast, so it doesn't spend more than a fraction of a fraction of a second in that hot section of pipe, nowhere near long enough to transfer significant heat energy into the charge. some heat shielding probably wouldn't hurt, but it's not a 'gotta fix it now' kind of concern. |
