Make it a habit to back up. This is the first lesson learnt when owning low cars. And I'm sure you've now decided never to pull up as far anymore. Don't feel bad, it's happened or will happen to nearly everyone at some point.

The town I'm in is so hilly, it's not uncommon to find a parking parking spot that's on a hill... that's just barely long enough for the car (which is short already!). Sometimes parking with the nose pointed down towards a curb is unavoidable (like one-way parking lots with diagonal parking spots), not to mention the many parking lots that are at a 45 degree angle to the road (nobody hear of leveling entrances?). So, that part of my bumper is pretty much scratched up. Good thing it's on the bottom of it. Nobody can see it unless they look for it under the car.

Then there are parking blocks and curbs that are lower than the car itself (stock). Hell, there's even curbs the FR-S will clear my old sedan didn't (Mercury Sable).

The is the only reason why I might not even get a front diffuser for the car. I'll just rip it off in about a week.

Need some fender feelers for your bumper.

Mine is just over a year old and I've done this twice. Since I've been driving for over 47 years and have never had a (serious) accident, I don't think it's me- the front bumper is low, like the entire car. I bought a can of touch up spray to fix it, but since you really need to take the bumper cover off to do it right, it seems like a lot of trouble for something that even I can't see unless I lie down on my back in front of the car. I think I'll just get on with life.

Something you can see annoys you that much? The bottom of my bumper is white.

I'm so guilty of this. I've learned to ignore it until I begin detailing my car

Fender feelers have been suggested before with lots of wild options! I have found that picking a reference point on your own car helps. On mine with my height when sitting, if I drive into the space until my view of the adjacent curb stone intersects the forward notch of the small window on my left, the front bumper will have good clearance to any parking lot curb stone.

You have the "hump" to show where your front wheels are, and when you see the curb/line in the small window (I forget the nomenclature), stop.

It would be great if there was a sensor we could attach to the bottom of the front lip that would give a warning when too close to the curb. I know they make back up sensors with lots of sensors and wires, but a single sensor for the front would be great!

I had mine for a few months before scraping the bottom of the bumper coming out of a gas station with a really deep incline coming back onto the street. Even went super slow and came in at an angle.

Broke my heart but I came to accept that these things will happen but I do what I can to avoid them.
