When I was in high school, if the wind chill was too low, the roads too icy and way more snow that our city could handle, the school district would cancel school. They were looking out for the students safety, making sure they didn't freeze at the bus stop or walking to school. For the bus its' self, ensuring that it didn't crash or slide off the road. Winters can be that bad in upstate NY. We even had 3 snow days while I was in college. On one occasion, back to back days. It was glorious.....if you didn't have to go anywhere lol
