I haven't heard crickets in my 2013 BRZ since about October. Only makes noise when it's warm outside and the car has warmed up. Otherwise, silence. Dealer offered to replace the pump, but I don't think I'd gain anything from it. Waiting until they find a permanent fix.

Don't need to wait till spring! I have the latest and greatest fuel pump and the crickets live on. Running the FR-S in New Hampshire, temps around 30-40 degrees and still the crickets chirp on. Very discouraging, don't know what to do next.

FR-S Matt Thanks for the info. If I go to the dealership will they know about the insulation fix. Is there a part number to reference this fix?
I had to actually track down the revised TSB and contact them about it, very low confidence in the dealership here!
I will give the dealer a call and see what they say.

That's the thing... I don't think there's any documentation about it. They're waiting to hear back from me after a month or two to see if the insulation is working.

I'm on my second tank of gas with the insulation and its still 100% chirp free, regardless of temperature. Filled up on Costco 93 octane, up to 10% ethanol.

Would the insulation affect the cooling of the pump? I'm not a fan of curing the symptoms instead of the cause.

My service manager deals with all of my issues directly. He definitely takes care of any problems that arise. I'm gonna ask them to look into the exterior insulation asap. Since their is probably no documentation about it, What Toyota dealership are you using for the pump issue? Any info is greatly appreciated, I'm gonna call or have them call to get an idea of what they came up with and try it immediately!

The pump already has some insulation under the injector cover. There isn't much airflow to begin with. I don't think additional heat will hurt it that much.

To be honest, I'm tempted to put the latest pump on my car and see how it does (for science!), as it seems to be hit or miss with everyone who has it.

When I asked them, they said no. Pumps like this have used insulation on the outside before.

I've got the newest insulated pump. Crickets are back. Extremely disappointed.

I'm still staying with the original pump and chirps for now.. Mine has been quiet for a few months now.. Even when it did chirp.. Was no big deal. Just another weird noise from the engine bay..
If you're bored during your drive.. You can play "what's that's noise"
Is it the HPFP chirping, or the faint horn sound from the clutch, possibly the ball bearing in a can sound.. Or could it be the driver side dash rattle tapping out a tune.. Even when you park it and get out, you can still keep playing.. Count the pops or my favorite evap emissions self maintenance check symphony ..
All this entertainment for minimal cost...

Matt, Could you post a helpful picture of the outer insulation? Anything helps!
