540 is the number I heard from my dealer in MD as well.

Yeah I always wanted a shift light, I just think it's cool. If this one is like the STI, it can be turned off, so no worries for all the people that don't like it.

I don't think I am going to rush right out and buy this thing right away. If I walk into a dealer and say I want to order a BRZ and here's my deposit and they tell me, "We're sorry sir we have sold out of our 5 cars for the year." eehh oh well I 'll just go get a 370Z or Genesis Coupe or G37 coupe or Focus ST or ? whatever else I want.
Clearly Subaru is looking at this as more of a brand builder then a money maker right now. Which in a way makes sense, they're manufacturing the FR-S so they'll be making money off that.

Everyone else who can't wait feel free to go get the FRS. that just means I'll get my BRZ sooner

wonder at the same time what this does to the used car market for this car, usually after a year you see many cars out for sale. This car I got a feeling will be very few like an NSX lol not to mention the minimal price changes.

Just gave my deposit (CC number) over the phone to my dealer. He asked me if I was planning on the Premium or Limited...and I replied by saying, "it depends on the day...and ultimately the price." His quick response was..."obviously, we'll be setting the final prices..." Hmmm...I'd like to assume that he meant the price will be determined by our negotiations...but I'm now fearing the worst!

Dealer markup will kill this deal...

i don't think this is a car that dealers should mark up. i know from a customers perspective we never want to see that but in some cases it makes sense. for example the exclusivity of the 1 series M coupe. however the strength of this car is its performance, RWD, and PRICE POINT! without that its just another unattainable car. if prices are high, it might kill the desire from the market. i think that would be studio for Scion and Subaru to do. this car will be sold out for the first 2 years. but at least it puts Toyota back on the performance map and helps Subaru win back some customers from BMW

Stohlman in Tyson's...and they have been very good to me in the past. I actually purchased my last two cars ('09 WRX and '10 GTI) from them. We'll see if customer loyalty helps me out this time around...or not.

So I spoke to Rich at Orion Subaru (Irvine, CA) and put down a deposit (fully refundable) deposit and got on the waiting/order list. He said that I'm about #9 on his list, but that he will be putting my order through Gene since they are working together. So I guess this makes me official. Woohoo!!!
