I think i a saw a truck somewhere that can run on any old oil, petrol, diesel, kerosine etc. So that would probably be a safe choice.

Go military then, I know the Abrams can run off of damn near anything burnable, I think they put cooking oil in one just to prove a point lol

Turbine might be a problem when maintenance time comes, it guzzles a huge amount of fuel at idle/low load, plus walking outside to get fuel for that thing would be pretty dangerous.

Yeah that would be the main issue.... but the walking outside part could be covered via the your buddy on the 50 cal. Disregarding my inner urge to be Rambo blasting horde of zombis with a 121mm tank round during an apacolypse if this where to happen I (and anyone else for that matter) want to either be A) as mobile as humanely possible or B) be someplace where nothing can get to you in the first place.

If it's A)

I'd go anything diesel. WAY more range and because diesel itself can function after years of being stagnant which regular petrol can't do. I'd think a F-150 with a extended range option and a secondary fuel tank, massive mud tires, front grill, mega light kit, and an armada of weapons in the back lol. That or a military diesel vehicle would suffice (Challenger 2 tank )

If it's B)

Find you a couple of buddies, go to the nearest marina and take the biggest boat you can find, and park that bitch in the middle of the harbor. Learn to fish = profit

It's weird, I see everyone's choices and clearly no one read Max Brook's "Zombie Survival Guide" book.

I'd get a minivan with a sun roof.

Reasons:
- Relatively fuel efficient compared to trucks
- Has large holding capacity and can tow slightly in a pinch
- Is large enough (possibly for ramming through a crowd)
- Sunroof allows for sniping from the top (kiting them zombies)
- In a pinch, windows can be opened and made into a mini fortress
- Relatively common therefore parts can be salvaged
- Usually reliable or can be easy to fix

Whoever posted the Abrams isn't thinking long term - it runs on jet fuel no? Where are you gonna get jet fuel in an apocalypse? I can siphon fuel off other cars.

Come to think of it, is there a hybrid minivan?

JP8 the most common jet fuel is really similar to a low grade diesel fuel. I was a jet mechanic for 5 years. But besides that I vote astro van.

Yeah but still far less common than straight up regular gasoline

Also, cannons are useless against zombie! Kill-to-expense ratio is ridiculously poor.

If you know guns, what would you recommend for something that can penetrate the skull but NOT go through one (you want it to ricochet inside to guarantee dead zombie brain)?

Pretty sure you can put gasoline through a turbine engine. Vegetable oil, heating oil, pretty much anything works. The problem is that the Abrams would suck it up so fast you'd be refueling all the time and you'd need to siphon a LOT of trucks and cars to fill the tank.

I think minivan is a good choice except they don't have diesel engines. I'd get a diesel BMW X5, it's got a sunroof, pretty high off the ground, a vat of leftover veggie oil can power it for thousands of miles.

As far as the gun goes I would have to say a .22 as it is the most common round in the world.

A decent older reliable 10/22 would be a good weapon to have around. I'd still have a 9mm pistol as a backup, again, because of ammo availability, and a 12ga shotgun. I'd probably try to find a 6.8 or .308 gun too.
Up here in Canadia, gun laws make me far less experienced with firing different sorts of ammunition compared to our US counterparts.

BUT I've fired .22 rounds when I used to be part of the rifle club and I encountered a misfire at least once every weekly visit where I would fire off roughly 40-50 rounds. That sounds like a high rate of failure no?
