Say that you are ready to buy the car that day..... ask for test drive...... when they tell you to "go around the block" say you need a few more laps around and/or different route around before you are ready to buy. No dealer on the planet would turn that down. As long as you make it at least seem like you are not wasting their time and not "thinking about it" still, they will pretty much let you do what you want.

At least that has been my experience.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

The test drive session was awesome at Carmax last night. Loved every bit of it.

The driving feel is just so awesome. It feels like a S2K or a Cayman. And even though the power lacks on the paper, it really doesn't feel like it. That says a lot since I drive a modified Mazdaspeed3.

Will be taking my wife out to the Subaru dealership that gave me a great deal. Hopefully, wifey will give me the green light on it.

The problem is Subaru has never had a car like this before, so they don't know how to treat it or sell it.

This was a problem with a lot of Hyundai dealers when the Genesis came out... the car is an upscale luxury sedan, that's being sold at a dealership network used to selling cars to a more budget-conscious customer base. You need to change your sales tactic to win customers, even if you use one car as a "test mule".

The smart(er) dealers in SoCal will know to let customers enjoy a test drive, because they most certainly aren't winning on price. (See all the people willing to buy from Heuberger Motors as proof of this.)

Yep. You are correct on the point.

Thankfully, some of the local Subaru dealers are being fairly nice at least via email. Was pretty surprised that these dealers pretty much matched the price that Heuberger Motors quoted me. And I think I'm lucky that Subaru is running this financing specials this month. 1.9% isn't too shabby!

They're pretty similar anyway, unless you're really pushing it at the track or something the difference on the streets are pretty small. Besides the radio and stuff, not much difference..

Saw this thread a day late. I live in Alhambra and work in Glendale. Wouldn't have minded if you took a slightly longer test drive of mine.

Quick question, why the BRZ over the FRS? I love my BRZ, but if I had to make the choice again today, I'd probably get the FRS.

Just asking, that's all.
Definitely try Sierra Subaru or other dealer. Subaru of Glendale is horrible. I can't believe they still have mark ups for BRZs now. I went there in May or June 2012 and they marked up this automatic white BRZ by $5k. I ended up getting my BRZ all the way from Massachusetts at MSRP.

Thanks man. haha

Carmax guys were pretty generous on test drive yesterday. Even went to freeway.

I like the look of BRZ more. That's all.

And my wife would NOT let me buy a Scion.

I've just made an appointment with a local Subaru. They offered a great price on 2014 BRZ Limited!

By the way, I've narrowed down my choices to 2014 BRZ Limited, 2013 MX5 Club, and a slightly used 2011 M3 Convertible 6MT.

It's all going down tomorrow. Wish me luck guys. Thanks for the responses!

I always say...lease never own a German car LOL. Just wayyy to expensive to repair.

Plenty of FRS/BRZs for parts if you plan to keep the car long term!

My .02 cents. Just stepped out of a 250 rwhp Miata that weighed 2300 and change and ate almost every street car I came across on the track. Ferraris, Porsche you name it she was a rocket. After putting about 1300 miles on my BRZ I more than happy with my choice. I already added a exhaust and sways. The car calls to me. Like nothing I have driven. I truly love this car. A test drive won't show even a glimmer of this cars true soul. You will know when you see it, her soul that is. You will know because when you see hers, she pulls at yours.

Purchase from @HeubergerMotors. Clint will give you a better deal, shipping the car TO YOUR DOOR, than you can get in socal.

On the other hand, feel free to come join us at the track to get a real feel for what the car can do in a safe environment.
