Not correct. Tetsuya Tada did most definitely design the car. Subaru built it. Regardless of your brand loyalty, these are facts.

Toyota and Subaru both played their roles. Supposedly Toyota is more responsible for the appearance, and Subaru for the engineering. They both seemed to want to say the other didn't support the project at times.

Cruising at @70mph ~2.3k rpm vs ~3k rpm? Yeah, few mpg seems about right.

What is Fact is that Tada designed the FT86 and Toyota's 86 car that is absolutely true. But, Subaru decided and design the Front of the BRZ,the engine, all the test etc. It's basically like you went to have your suit tailored Toyota was the person paying for the tailoring, and picking out the look and style. Then Subaru tailored the suit.

Just got an e-mail from a dealer. I've been told they'll only receive four cars this year and that I can place my order on the first of March. However it will be without a price.

That seems to be the deal with most of the dealer in my area too, and most of the dealers here already have 4-6 people or more on the list. I don't even want to get into how many is on there for the FRS.

Yes, and yes. The BRZ and FRS are EXACTLY THE SAME CARS, save some suspension tweaking.

Of course not. It doesn't even have the same engine and transmission!

Of course it's going to have the same mileage if the engine and transmission are the same.

From another thread. Interesting; I take it allocation numbers to individual dealerships will be based on WRX/STI sales.

Spot on. MT cruising 70mph at ~3095rpm, at cruising 70mph at 2348rpm according to this calculator, with a tire height/OD of 23.9".

Man that's quite a difference. 750RPM is the difference between a car that feels like it's screaming and a car that feels like it's just loafin along.

So what's the trade off? Quicker Corner Exit?
Still scratching my head about this one. I guess I will try and drive both AT and MT.

competing with a GC seems just about right for the predicted price of around $25k

I cheated and fed auto gears to GT5.

A bit faster 0-60 and quarter mile time with MT. In GT5 that is.

yes but there's going to be more GC's made than the ~540 a month that dave mentioned....

with the stiff competition for a brz for awhile, I might have to consider other options
