Just as OP described, I thought it was coming from the speaker, and at first thought it was static coming from the audio. I'd hear it with my music turned up, so you could say it was pretty noticeable. It almost sounded like it was coming from outside the vehicle, but the noise was audible usually when I depress the accelerator during engine breaking. For that reason, it would make sense that this noise is somehow related to the accelerator. I drove it on the freeway today, and I could replicate the same noise cutting the throttle and letting the RPM's go down from 4000-3000 in 4th gear. What's strange, is that it seemed to go away on much smoother roads

I'm still confused to how the bracket would make such a noise, and why not all BRZ's are affected by this. Would you be kind enough to take a picture of where the felt is applied?
Since the tech applied the felt, I'm not exactly sure where it is. However, what you've described is very similar to what I experienced. I think it did get worse, but only a bit and then stayed about like how you heard in the video. Based on what you're saying, you might have the same issue. I guess some BRZs are slightly out of spec and that accelerator assembly just rattles against the firewall? Either way, the fix has held for me. Very happy that it's gone.

So I think I have the assembly issue figured out. When I lightly tap the gas pedal assembly with my foot, I can hear a slight buzz. After I took out the assembly, tapped on the black box, and I could clearly hear the metallic rattle. I definitely think the rattle is from the spring used inside for the pedal motion, and the vibration we hear is traveling off the firewall to the dash. I did manage to put a foam "gasket" I made, and I'm not sure if it is thick enough to cancel the vibration but I think this is definitely a start. I didn't hear anything driving on the road but will give it a try on the freeway soon. Thank god for these forums!

Well that must be a huge improvement, and it must be nice to not hear that rattling anymore.

To my surprise after i loosen this screw the sound is gone. When I tried tightening it back, the sound comes back. It sounds like the plastic is rubbing/knocking against the metal bar behind.

What i did was to take some foam padding and stick it in between and the sound is gone.

Going to test drive it later
After Subaru had about 6 cracks at it (off the road for about 5 days in total) and only put foam on the front trim, etc, I decided to take mine apart. When I got the instrument cluster out it was clear that the hadn't done anything the in depth. As soon as a wiggle the plastic with the screw in it near the beam TICK TICK TICK. Loosened the screw, foam tape behind in and tightened. Still a slight notice from the screw itself so I put the screw through a small piece of foam tape. Completely silent.

Added a bit more foam tape between the plastic and instrument cluster for good measure. Finally installed my JPM cluster hood at the same time (got it a month ago but wanted to fix the rattle first).

Took it for a long test runs over good and bad roads, not a peep (touch wood).

Heres the buzzing I'm hearing.. its exactly the same as yours from the video. Thinking of taking it to the dealer and showing them that pic you posted of the report and see if they could do the same fix under warranty.

Yeah, I got the same thing too! I bought mine with 21 miles on it and it has done it since day one. Going back to the dealership on Monday along with many other problems/complaints

I stuck a small piece of foam between the windshield and dash to apply some pressure on the dash and the noise is gone.

For anyone wondering, it's extremely easy to do yourself. Unbolt the 2 10mm nuts on the gas pedal, and unplug it. Apply the felt to the back of it, and retighten it.
what kind of felt did you use ?"

thanks

I'm removing my electric super charger for an update. Since I have to remove the throttle switch I'll take care of the rattle/buzz. I'm going to install some expanded PTFE tape between the firewall and this bracket. The PTFE will provide an isolate barrier between the two surfaces.

hey guys,

i have the same buzzing sound . . .

my initial thought was that it was coming from the accelerator assembly. i read someones suggestion about placing felt and i tried a layer of foam. it didn't work. yesterday i placed some gt mat on the firewall and raised metal portion that the accelerator assembly attaches to . . . i figured that would cut the vibrations going to the accelerator . . . i figured wrong . . .

the buzzing continues

i'm starting to think its coming from somewhere else . . .
