Most automotive sites are doing hands on tests with the 2015 Subaru WRX if anyone is interested.

Embargo is over as of today, reviews to be found at the usual places. Interesting comment in one:

Think about it this way: The 2015 WRX outperforms – by Subaru’s own admission – its BRZ sports coupe in almost every way: handling, acceleration, you name it. Plus, the WRX has four doors and a useable trunk.

.... and utter falls into a chasm of obscurity in the looks department, It's a Prius with the front of STi concept and the rear of a Civic

I'll stick with the "baby Maserati" lines of the twins thank-you

Doubtful the WRX will outhandle the Twins (unless the author means in a very strict lateral grip sense), nor deliver the same driving feel. I'd love to be proven wrong, but I just don't think it'll happen.

On the plus side, it does seem like Subaru learned a lot from the BRZ and the glowing reviews it got from automobile enthusiasts and magazines. The more they can make the WRX drive like a BRZ, the better.

"The BRZ used to be my realistic dream car. And now, with the 2015 WRX, Subaru has essentially negated any reason to get the BRZ. And I’m OK with that."

And I'm okay with BRZs staying rare.

A couple weeks after I bought mine, some kid was tearing ass down the road past my employer in some little Honda, hits the brakes hard, does a 180, pulls into the lot, parks a respectful distance away from my BRZ, gets out, does a slow walk around, whistles, climbs back in his car, takes off. That never happened with either of my wrxs, pretty sure it isn't going to happen to anyone's 2015.

Damn... time to wait it out some more.

I really wished the car didn't get longer and heavier and if that rear changed its looks it'd probably be better for the eyes.

Iono guys. Iono. I kindaaa like it but I kinda don't.

Did they publish specs? I haven't seen anything besides horsepower numbers. I'm pretty curious as to weight and gas mileage. IMO that's always been a weakness of the WRX competing against hot hatches - the FWD competitors seem to get a good 10 mpg extra.

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...rx_first_test/

All the specs you could want are in there. Estimated curb weight is about 3330, gas mileage for the manual is up to 28 highway.

Had it been a decent looking hatch I may have waited to see what it would be like. I knew it was going to be a great performer, but it is still not quite what I want.

[motortrend test]

The 15 wrx is (evidently) all about numbers.

The brz was never about numbers.

The wrx is making less and less sense to me (and I've owned three of them). I don't get the tall sedan / Civic styling / rock hard suspension / super performance combination. Kudos for two out of four, I guess.

The DIT will be great in a BRZ STi.

Hmm, that's actually not bad. Lighter than my 3rd gen NA Legacy GT, which was very similar in exterior dimensions. Gas mileage is acceptable.

Looking at the pics, I don't like the bright silver trim piece at the bottom of the steering wheel or the CF around the head unit, but otherwise it looks pretty good. Definitely noticing some commonality in the small stuff like the shift knob, interior dimmer switch, pedals, door handles, etc.

That screen above the vents in the center seems like it might offer some really neat functions too. It appears to have the same FT nav head unit as the BRZ, but with steering wheel controls, so that's nice, and that probably means that there's no uesless HU integration with the HVAC or instrument cluster. I noticed that the "Harmon Kardon" audio system has the same physical appearance as the FT HU, I wonder if it's a special variant or if the changes are just in the speakers and the HU itself is unchanged.

Any idea what the three buttons in the 7-8 o'clock position on the steering wheel are? Not cruise control or bluetooth or audio controls, maybe something to do with the info screen on the dash?

Watched the review video.

Still not a fan but I have to say, it looks fairly good in WRB. Much better than red.

I've had people chase me down on foot, bikes, boats, motorcycles, semis and cars just to complement the FR-S.

I'd be damned to trade this for a WRX. Hell, they're not even comparable in my book.

For those wondering about if it's better in person, it's the definition of beige, I walked by one at the LA auto show and it took me an extra minute to realize it was a 2015.

Coolest part of the display was the FA20T that was cut open for display.
