TRD 1st world problems...

So...

The other day i scored a TRD intake and TRD exhaust for FREE. They were take offs from a dealer demo car with really low miles. We installed them and i love the deep sound, and the look. I know there's really not that much performance gain but that weird squishy power area between 3k and 5k rpm seems to be much less noticeable. Don't get me wrong im super grateful to my friend that hooked them up. But, (and here is my only complaint...)

Is it just me or is the TRD exhaust just not all that loud? i love the deep sound but am i just an ungrateful POS because i wish it had more volume? i know i know "1st world problems" right? But what can i say, i like things how i like em...

So the point of this post wasn't just to bitch. I'm just putting it out there to see if there are any bites, and I'm not totally set in stone on this... But any chance someone might be tired of their loud annoying exhaust that might want to trade? Just figured id put it out there.

I have a TRD exhaust/intake combo and I think it sounds really good, but I do agree that for some of us, it's probably not that loud.
I'd recommend getting a Nameless downpipe/overpipe combo and pairing it with your TRD exhaust. The sound is amazing from that combination.

Interesting! I have the TRD exhaust and I like the sound. I only wish it offered more power. I'm not keen on loud specially when it is not equally proportional to power. :-)

I bet a front pipe would give you some more sound.

Here's a clip of the TRD exhaust with a catted and resonated Nameless Downpipe/Overpipe combo. Definitely one of my next to-do mods.

I'd also suggest modifying more of your exhaust, because then you can get a bit more power, the sound you want, and keep that look.

I got a Perrin front pipe to replace the stock pipe and it really woke up the TRD exhaust. There is a secondary cat on the front pipe, but no sensors, so you can either get a high flow catted or straight pipe. The nameless piece that kALMIGHTY mentioned is really the best value though.

Just get JDL UEL headers. That will fix the loudness a little and make it sound like a manly car.

I have close the same sound, it was nice with stock headers, on my (read signature), but once the HKS was installed it really opened up the sound.

Almost to much at some RPM and throttle positions.

I sounds incredible from outside, when I hear it under a bridge or tunnel, but inside it is a bit much.

I have a question.
Riding with a TRD exhaust myself and would like to know if I'm going to have any fitment problems with a 3" Overpipe/Downpipe?
Thanks.

I would also like to know about fit and performance factors related to different pipe sizes in the exhaust system. In the old days, you either wanted to have the same diameter all the way or narrow to wider as it went away from the engine. Does that still apply these days? Specially without a high flow cat.

Out of curiosity which Perrin front pipe did you get? Is it the 2.5"?
