I noticed some Australian car dealer web sites list prices essentially as an estimated ''out the door'' price including 12 months insurance. If that is the case then 40K is not to bad.

and i'd assume the $39,990 for low spec includes on road cost?

thanks

ps. i'd personally go for the high spec too.

we call this "drive away" price (ie. including 12 month registration, stamp duty and dealer delivery charge). but usually not including insurance.

the included insurance is CTP, or compulsory third party personal injury insurance (AKA green slip).

its law that if you own a vehicle, to register it on the road you must have a green slip so that in the event of an at-fault accident where you injure or kill someone you are insured to cover the cost of their medical fees.

This does not cover their car, your car, but depending on which company you use, some of them do cover personal injury to yourself.

insurance for vehicles is available seperately but is not compulsory like green slips are. there is also differing levels (third party property only, fire/theft, or comprehensive/total coverage)

so yeah, youre right, they do include 12 months insurance, but it is only because it is a compulsory part of the registration process.
