For what i know 3" full setup
plus catless header is very loud.

I had ordered a 3" perrin catback and a 3" nameless downpipe combo.

After hearing few videos I had changed my mind and grabbed a 2.5" downpipe combo.

For what I have read even with 2.5" setup you are not gonna lose much on a turbo setup unless you plan to go big number.

Also, comparing my planned setup to jamesm's setup, the 3" Nameless frontpipe/overpipe should give just a kick of extra aggressiveness to the tone, no? He's running 2.5" frontpipe and overpipe if I'm not mistaken.
i'm running a motiv 2.5" overpipe and j2 2.75" front pipe.

Anyone got a number on that?

User jamesm was kind enough to upload a video of his FR-S with the 3" Perrin behind a turbo charger and has quelled my concerns of it being "too quiet".

I believe it's been decided. The 3" Perrin is gonna be my system. I can say that because:

Quote:
1. 3" system to suit a F/I setup in 2 years time. Check.
2. Make power gains and sound great for the 2 years it will be N/A. Check. Power:

3. Don't want to replace and re-buy parts. (I.E. buy 2.5" DP now, and buy 3" later) I'm counting on the 3" downpipe being decent sounding and performing for this to be a checkmark.
4. Not be too noisy at any stage in the game. Not with the Perrin! Check.
5. Not be too quiet at any stage in the game. Only concern was too quiet behind a turbocharger which the video above has indicated isn't a problem. Check
6. Be suitable for a bad ass catted header if I decide to ditch my F/I plans. If any exhaust will stay relatively civilized after a UEL, this one will. 2nd option to turbocharging is the FT86 Speedfactory catted UEL. Shouldn't be too loud. Check.
And as a bonus, I support two kick-ass companies: Perrin for the CBE, and Nameless for the DP.

Thanks all for any and all help!

Does anyone know if there's a clearance issue with the 3 inch lowered about an inch?

The Perrin looks to have better ground clearance than the full nameless. This is going off Matt FR-S's video of the full nameless exhaust clip. I've seen him mention that the clearance isn't an issue so I don't imagine it to be with the Perrin either.

My car is the car in the first video no problems with the 3" with a lowered car it's perfect. Going unresonated pretty soon with borla header and full perrin 3" headerback except for overpipe of course ill post a video when I get my car back . I personally think the resonated 3" is too quiet loved it at first but with the rear seats up you can barely hear it.

Hey man, do you happen to have any exterior footage / drive by? Also curious to know what your thoughts are on the loudness - has it been an issue, either personally / neighbours or with authorities?

Going with a similar setup but with stock op/dp

The header was pulled after a couple weeks. The other exhaust components stayed on for another month or two till after sc was installed, in the last couple weeks I went to just using the op/fp and stock header/catback.

The full setup sounded fantastic as long as nobody was around and you weren't trying to have a conversation in the car. If cold starts drawing the attention of everyone within a quarter mile and yelling over the exhaust to talk to a passenger uphill is what you're into than it's a great setup.

With stock header the sound became much more reasonable, however I eventually got tired of the resonation in cabin when under a bit extra throttle while cruising I.e. Passing/uphill. Though it did seem like the sc made the noise worse.

Currently with just the op/fp I'm actually pretty happy minus the terrible stock tips. The car is near stock quiet at low throttle, but has a nice sound that rolls in when you get on the gas. Or Maybe I'm just getting too old for loud and obnoxious
