After new pump, I've driven about 2k and chirps are on and off. Definitely not as loud as original pump, but still noticeable and freaking annoying when someone asks if they can look at your car, can you start it, is that sound normal? -__-

Update on my issue:

Toyota and Subaru engineers flew in to see my car today. Got a phone call just a bit ago saying they found an "anamoly" in my ECU and the d4 timing modified and asked if I had a chip. Told them its an ECU flash and its tuned for my catless header. That's all the info they needed and then told me I'd hear back.

Why do they think an ECU flash is going to fix it? I told them I can flash it back stock and all it will do is chirp then throw a check engine light for the header. Can't wait to see the response. I really hope they try to blame the tune or be proactive and realize this issue isn't tune/ECU related.

Still no noise here on the new pump, running the same 93 octane Shell E10 gas that I've always used. And i had the noise loud as hell on the original pump.

:fingers crossed:

All your warranties are now void. You should be expecting a bill for $800 (pump) plus labor costs to come in the mail in 4-6 weeks.

BTW, your payment is due in 2 weeks, so you're late. Add late fee of $295.

Nah, nothing got voided. I think they were wondering mainly because if it was a chip, they didn't want to reflash the ECU. They probably flashed that new RPM dip one (which was already fixed by my FA20club Ecutek tune) to see how it affects the noise on the pump, which we all know won't matter. If anything, I might end up with a CEL on my way home, lol. I'll find out if they flashed my ECU or not or what their plans are. They've got my car for today as well.

Considering the ECU has nothing to do with how the mechanical pump works, i'd love to see them prove that your reflash created the chirp

Checking in again guys...

So after almost 6k km on the oct 17 pump, the crickets have just now returned.
I find it weird that they all of a sudden came back, intermittent the first day, but now constant.

First time they returned I was digging out my car after a snow fall, took me longer than expected to get unstuck and the car did a full warm up while idling. Could idling be causing some kind of issue???? I have read on here that this car idles rich on start up... I dunno maybe someone more mechanically inclined could speculate on why a full warm up while idlin could cause this.

Best part is, you'll hear crickets after a full cold startup to warmup. Leave the car off for about 30-45 minutes then go drive it again. You won't hear crickets. That's how mine is at least. Makes no sense. Temperature does not matter. It's gotta be the lubrication component.

Odd, mine is consistent just like the old pump now. Good when cold but chirps everytime now when warm.

Unfortunate, after a few months and over 5k of chirp free driving I thought this was the fix.

Back to the drawing board toyotabru!

I should be hearing back from the Toyota/Subaru engineers after today that are with my car in regards to this new pump chirping. Hopefully they'll share their ideas with me or leave me with the "we'll let you know when we have a solution"
