This is exactly how some people will feel. People want benefits when they purchase a car and if they want the GC to handle as sharp as the 370Z then there is the aftermarket for suspension and wheel and tire upgrades. But I like the 370Z more than the GC but couldn't live with only one car with 2 seats.

Looks like the new v6 is pretty quick in a line. Insidelines numbers show that its as fast as a 370z to 60, and is pulling away from the 370z at 1 mph at the 1/4th mile lol.

Problem with the v6 is it's stepping into 5.0 territory with the new price increase. That's my only gripe about it unless you go for the R-spec and not the Track package... but at that weight whats a few more pounds for a lot more creature comforts.

The 2.0T is a much better value.

The propeller shaft issue in the v6 stangs was an issue that arose years ago with the original Crown Vic's. The Vic's that were originally used for Taxi's and passenger cars had the lighter econo-single shaft while the interceptors and marauders had the split-heavier duty shaft (it was part of the original police package). The issue was less prevalent then (largely because the issue was confined to the Vic and people don't usually take those over 120 unless they're cops). But with that in mind it sort of confused me as to why Ford would use a light-weight single shaft in the v6 stang with it's current horsepower/torque figures... Either way they don't have any intention of using the 5.0's shaft on the V6 from what I understand. So anyone looking to remove the limiter on the v6 and take the car past up to the 130 range is going to need an aftermarket propeller shaft (like something from shaft masters) first.

I never understood how people can compare two cars with different packages.

A 3.8 R-Spec is really closer to a 3.7Stang with the sport package than a GT 5.0 with no features. Yes I know the 5.0 costs 1k more but the stang is a base so no sport package for around 30k unless you got some kind of deal. Yes the 3.8 R spec is about $3500 more than a performance package 3.7 Stang but its not like Hyundai is charging more for less.

Nicer soft touch Interior vs Plasticky interior
10 year vs 5 year Warranty
Leather seats vs Cloth seats

If Hyundai didn't offer these extras then I could understand it being overpriced.

Yeah same here, I considered the 350Z and S2000 and just couldn't go through with it without having the extra seats. I had an MR2 and felt completely anti-social driving that thing around. I sold it only a few months after I got it, just couldn't get used to not having anything back there... other than the motor lol.

I probably wouldn't use the seats in the FR-S/BRZ/GC that often at all, but I would feel better knowing that they're there.

Don't 100% agree here. That mentality is why people flock to SUVs they don't need. "Well the inlaws come up once every two years, so I better buy a vehicle that will fit them all for one week. Plus it snowed for two days last year, so I need 4X4..."

Little bit of an extreme example but whatever...

very good point, regarding SUVs and such. I've never owned a big vehicle and don't agree with it either. However, I do like to have back seats in my car. Even if it's just to throw my briefcase back there.

SUVs sacrifice performance/mpg by being built to be a monstrosity from the beginning. But to me with the 370Z and GC, I'd rather have the one that has 4 seats, considering they are of equal performance and size/weight (and the GC is cheaper anyway). I wish the Z would come back with a 2+2 option like the Z32 did.

Thing is you can have a pretty optioned out 5.0 for 38.7k, which is 3.2k (if I remember correctly) over the Genesis Track.

That includes brembo's, 3.73 diff, HID's, and Shaker 1000 system. Not to mention the 3.7 mustang doesn't have a plasticky interior, as a matter of fact the only cars with plasticy interiors these days are low spec econobox's or low spec KIA's. Fords haven't used hard plastic for much of their interior for a few years now.

Btw, as of next year the 5.0 will make 8 more horses, come with optional recaro's, have the new track apps display and come standard with HID's.

What...? A crown vic with bench seats that body rolls like a monster and has air suspension... how does that compare to the 5.0 which is pretty damn planted, solid axle and all? I've driven many a Vic and a few 5.0's the two are DRASTICALLY different in ride quality.

I have never driven a crown Victoria. LOL. If I ever drive one I will prob ably describe it as "it felt like driving a barge".
At the time I was driving a mk6 GTI which is a lot smaller than the mustang. The mustang looked good on the paper and that's why I went to see if I wanted to trade in my GTI. It was not a good fit for me. I am a skinny Asian. *shrugs*

Ooookay, that I can understand. Like yourself I'm pretty used to small cars so driving bigger cars usually feels a bit awkward for me. The one thing I can say though is after I got used to driving the 5.0 the car for it's price tag was IMO one of the best deals on the market.

P.S. Picture a Door with exercise balls underneath it at all four corners and what it's like to ride on top of that. That's what a Vic feels like.

I option one out to the fullest with comparable features and it wasn't 38k. It was 41k with a manual while a fully loaded manual GC is 33.5k. I never said you said the GC was overpriced. It was some other guys I was referring too. And after a certain P2W ratio I no longer care for HP anymore since I would be only driving on the road. I would rather a modern V6 over a modern V8 since the 6 cylinder engine cars of today is pretty fast stock. I would rather save 5k instead of spending it on that extra 70 hp. I could understand if modern V6's had a power rating of 210 hp. Now that's terrible.

The Mustang I put together was 38.8k fairly optioned out (not fully, I know that a FULLY optioned out Mustang runs just short of the Boss 302 in price).

Heated seats, Shaker 500 (no navi, but then again I never really cared much for cars that come with Navi. The cost of having to update DVD's every few years and the inability to change my head unit was never appealing to me, in lieu of that I'll just continue using my phone + car dock.), Pedestal spoiler, Leather Bucket seats with accents, 3.73 diff, HID's, Brembo's.

I mean, personally that's all I would ever want on the stang. MAYBE the shaker 1000 which would bring the price up to 40.1 but once you start reaching into the 32k+ range chances are you're financing the vehicle anyway unless your "Stackin' change like a BAWS" so a 5-7k difference (in my subjective opinion) is a drop in the bucket.

It's weird though, depending on what time of year you build a Ford the options change. Some of the packages get lumped together for a lower price, some of them disappear entirely, some things get added and subjectracted from already offered packages. A few months ago I built the same stang for 36 and about a month back it was 39 *shrug*. If I got the GC v6 I'd get the R-spec anyway so it's still a crazy buy at that price.
