Ah, my condolences! Just looks like bad luck to me. I think vandalism would look a lot uglier than that

You said above that it wasn't a ball or anything. Did you find any rock dust on the windshield itself? Maybe it was a tiny meteorite or something?

Tinted my car today at Rich's Tint Shoppe in Walnut. 35% in the front 2 and 20% in the back 3. Total came out to 175 with the Charcool Madico tint. Tint job was very clean and car looks good Kind of wish my 35% was a little darker but i'm happy with my tint shade. Here is a pic I took with my phone at the gas station.

There is however, this weird light glare on my back window. Does anyone have any experience or know if this will go away? I took some pics to show what I mean:

It is kind of driving me crazy driving at night already because all the lights form lines everywhere.

dude i have the charcool tint too and it does the same thing in the back. i was thinking of getting it redone with something else but i hear removing the tint in the back can sometimes f up your defroster.

Installed, ok, I watched Captain Jack install the OEM+ Reference system tonight. Hey, I aimed the flashlight a lot! So, yeah, totally worth it; the sound is just so much better..

My carbon tint did that too, but only on the rear window.

I got a Formula One tint and noticed the same thing. I'd imagine this happens with all tints.

It either went away after the first few days as the film cured or I've gotten used to it, since I haven't thought about it again until I saw your post.

That is really weird you guys. I've seen the same thing happen with tint on my cousin's Civic and a few other cars I've been in but my FR-S is perfectly clear in the rear window.

20% tint all around by the way. I'll try and take pictures in the dark for you guys later. You shouldn't be seeing that kind of distortion.

What brand tint is on your car? Since so many people have this problem too I'm not sure if it's a tint film defect? I'll wait a few days... not even sure if they will redo it though since it's not fading/bubbling

Ouch! Hope there's no damage to the side body panels or the paint.

It's likely not a tint film defect. I would guess that it is a result of the tint film deforming over the defogging conductors that transverse the rear window, causing little flat spots that refract the light from behind. I noticed it on my BMW too, though not quite as bad... I can't say if it got better as the adhesive cured or if I just got used to it over time.

That sucks man...but hey, at least you weren't greeted after work with this:

Moral of the story: No matter how careful you are with your car, you can't control what other people are going to do.
