So it's finally come to this. It is with a heavy heart that I've decided to postpone the purchase of the 86.

I can't wait the 2 or 3 months it's going to take to get a '14 and my financial sensibilities won't allow me to buy a '13 for full price. So, with that said it looks like I'm gonna have to let go of the stuff I've bought for the car.

I've got a square set (non-staggered) of WedsSports TC105Ns 17x9 +35 (that's FR face) finished in Titanium Silver that were never mounted. I also have compatible hub centric rings for them.

I also have a GrimmSpeed license plate relocator and license plate frames.

Finally, I've got a bunch of Automation LED bulbs for the car:
Dome Light
Visor Vanity Lights
Door Step Lights
Trunk Light
License Plate Lights
Cree Reverse Lights
Amber Front Turn Signals with load resistors
Amber Rear Turn Signals with load resistors

If any of you are interested in any of these, please PM me and we'll hopefully give these guys a good home. As with the wheels, none of these were ever installed and come in their original packaging. I'd be more than happy to send pics to anyone interested.

@Duo, tama, there are a number of people selling their 86/BRZ for a good price and with very low mileage on it.. you should check them out

@pearlhatchiroku, one time when i was going home, meron sumabay sakin na Vios (Meralco company car pa naman) and it was all stock and revved twice nung nagkatabi kami.. all i did was slowly look at him and just smile while i nod my head

Hi Guys,

Is it ok to get an 86 this year end or early january? or should i wait for 2014 manufactured cars to arrive?

Will it affect the resale value?

Where can i find the VIN sticker in the 86?

TIA!

VIN can be found on the lower corner of the driver's side of the windshield (seen from outside). You can also find a sticker in the doorjamb.

Relevant digit you want is the 10th digit.

Sample VIN: JF1ZN6L81DG015770

10th digit is D. D = MY13

MY14 cars have E in place of D in the sequence. Last 6 digits are sequence number. Therefore in the VIN above, the car is a MY13 86 and is the 15,770th car built.

And to answer your question, yes. The MY will play into depreciation but will only affect resale value if you flip (sell) your car soon. Car depreciates the minute you drive off the dealership, and will depreciate again when the calendar changes.

I would only buy a MY13 if the dealer gives me a discount, but that's not how things are done over here. They usually offer some kind of incentive(s) back in the US when the '14s show up but all the cars I've seen so far are leftover '13s.

The local guys can prolly give you a more informed answer to whether or not you can expect to get a discount on leftover '13s come January. If you can't wait, find a '13 you want, and are offered a discount, I'd go for it. If you can wait, however, I'd order a '14 if you're concerned bout resale value and such.

For what it's worth, resale value isn't a factor for me. I know I'd keep the car but refuse to buy a '13 on principle when the dealers won't negotiate. And a '14 is so far off for me. I need a car today and will be looking into something else and perhaps pick up an 86 next year.

Looking forward to that.

What do yo'all think about the 2015 WRX? Stick to that or wait for the STI?

I'd personally wait for the sti, the new look of the wrx isn't really my type. that or the hatch back just really grew on me. 268hp not bad though.

In photos where the photog is near the front driver side tire of the car and framing the camera pointing down makes me think the WRX is a combination of a Volvo and Evo X.

Yup, I see where you're coming from. I did find a great pic but I don't know how to post it from tapatalk!

Anyway, I respect the changes like the new bolt pattern for the the wheels and 6-speed tranny. What I don't like, though, is how watered down it is from the WRX Concept!

If it had looked anything like that, it would've been a winner. It's too bad cause now the WRX/STI are separate cars and no longer 'roided up Imprezas. They should've gone crazy with the design and made it distinct kinda like what Nissan did with the GT-R.

So I'm with y'all and will wait to see what's up with the STI. My 2¢
