Hello everyone! I recently bought my Raven MT Fr-S last week. I live in Queens, New York and would be excited to go to some meets! Probably going to drive it stock for a little while but I would like to get a new intake soon. Most likely from Injen. Just not sure if I want to get a CAI or SRI.

..... lvlaxsurferben.

(what on earth does that name mean ....... ??)

My suggestion for an intake modification for the FR-S, is just to drop in a good drop in hi-flo filter (like K&N) and call it good. Quick, easy and relatively inexpensive.

Now, about tires ...... if you don't have some winter time tires, that may be something to consider.

Enjoy that new buggy of yours ....

Thank you!

Hello everybody. This is my first post here even though I have been visiting the forums for a better part of the year.

History 101. My 2001 solara convertible blew the head gasket on New Years Day 2013. Imagine starting the year on the highway shoulder at 4 in the morning, holding the hood up for the engine to cool down on what was undoubtedly the coldest and windiest day of the winter . After several attempts to resuscitate her over the year, I finally decided to let her go a month ago. It was my first car and I had immensely enjoyed it.

Looking back, I do not remember when or how i first came across the Twins. I was considering the VW GLI Autobahn, the Civic SI, the Ford Focus and what not. I only remember I was suddenly reading and watching countless reviewers drooling as they tested the FR-S. I went for a test drive at my local dealership. They had a Hot Lava MT.

It was love at first drive. I was completely overwhelmed. I knew what not to expect with regards to a posh interior, a booming stereo or the power and surge of a big V6, thanks to all the posts on this forum and other reviews. But none of the positive reviews prepared me for the absolutely fantastic driving experience. The precision and feedback of the steering, the maneuverability offered by the perfect balance and the throttle response were amazing. I did not feel the lack of power in it. It was so obedient when I wanted it to surge ahead during overtakes on the highway.

I damned practicality and reliability to hell. I could never have been satisfied with any other car in my price point. Everyday would be a reminder of what I was not feeling if I drove anything else.

So, after a month's wait, my 2014 Whiteout FR-S finally arrived yesterday. I would like to give a big thumbs up to Jim Norton Toyota, Tulsa for a wonderful buying experience. They also let me drive around in a RAV 4 till my FR-S arrived. I would also like to thank this FT86 community for all the valuable information and for helping my make my mind. I am looking forward to some nice times ahead.

It is true, what they say about the juvenile smile when you are driving around and the longing sigh as you get out off it.

I'm not 100% but I'm pretty sure it was done at the dealer. I really didn't like them in the pics but when I saw it in person loved it.
As far as mods, I've ordered leds for just about everything. Going to order the Borla cat back after xmas.

Hey guys,

Seamus here from Flatout Motorsports. I'd like to introduce myself and sort of break the ice. I've been working on cars since I was a kid. I'm a fan of all cars; imports mainly - and enjoy custom fabricating whatever I can come up with. I consider myself to be pretty good at tig welding and I'm a huge fan of forced induction and big power. Over the last few years I've also learned a lot about tuning and have really enjoyed that so far.

Flatout Motorsports is a race/street/tuning shop located in Bellingham, MA. Basically what we do here is this: We build, store, maintain and transport race cars for arrive and drive clients, as well as maintain five Spec Miatas of our own for customers to rent for racing, track days, time trials etc. We perform just about any service that race/performance oriented street cars need, from ground up builds to suspension setup including full corner-balanced alignments. We also custom fabricate anything from seat rails to exhausts and turbo manifolds. In addition to that, we have a Dynapack chassis dynamometer and provide tuning services for naturally aspirated and force inducted two wheel drive cars.

We joined FT86club because we've been interested in the FR-S and the BRZ since they were first released, and finally have some time to dive in to the culture and see what these impressive cars are really all about.

Our plan is to spend some time getting to know the good people on here and learn all there is to know about these cars so that we can begin offering BRZ and FR-S specific parts and services. We'd also like to have a place to keep everyone updated on what we're up to in terms of our current projects and racing endeavors.

Just for the record, this is not an advertisement; we don't want to break any rules! We are not currently producing anything in house for these cars for the time being, but we plan to reach that point some day. When we do we would love to become a vendor for FT86club. For now we just wanted to introduce ourselves and to let you guys know who we are and what we do as well as what our future plans are.

We look forward to getting to know you guys and girls and if you're ever in the Central Massachusetts area, stop by and say hello! We love meeting people that share the same interests and passion for cars as us.

Hi, just picked up My FR-S a couple of weeks ago. Been running a few tracks with my club over the years mostly in Corvettes but the competition has got to the point I cant afford to play...lol So I decided to try my luck in the under 300 class. I didnt spend much time researching this car but seen it on the road and had to have it, besides everyone else is running a Miata and I wanted to be different. I have to say I was shocked when I started looking a supercharger kits and laying out $8-9k to get to 250hp... Yikes A double yikes when I compare it to the 750hp kit for my CTS-V for just a few dollars more (But oh so worth it).

Anyway, I look forward learning a bunch here and will be reading for a while. If anyone has any pro's and con's between supercharging or turbo charger please let me know. Also, if you know of a good shop for our cars in the Orlando/Daytona area I would appreciate the heads up.

Thanks
Don

Hello everyone. Feel free to call me archer(not my actual name but its sort of become my nick-name). I currently don't have a BRZ or FRS however im planning on getting one mid latter summer 2014. I figured id join this nice growing forum before i even get my car because i have a general idea of what i want to do to my car once i get it but im not positive on everything yet so wy not talk it out with everyone on here to get a better idea of whats what. A little car history of mine, first car was a 96 jetta gls(yes, the fast and furious one) my dad had built it up some and made it pretty nice and clean and handed it down to me as my first car. Then i had a 93 suburban with a 454 at the same time as my jetta. By far the worst milage iv ever had in a car. Then i sold my jetta and got a 96 miata, did some work to it but nothing to major. THEN, a 07 mazdaspeed 3 that had quite a bit of work done to it. It was able to take just about any honda you could throw at it, destroyed a worked on e36 m3. Beat a turbo'd rx8, Ran equal with a turbo prelude, the only honda that ever was equal that race'd(for any of you honda people, i do realize i could take all honda, just the ones i had raced). Then it was time for something different, i bought something i had wanted ever sense i was a young kid, i got a jeep. totally different then my normal love of low fast car's but i always wanted one. I love it to death but i miss my lower, quicker, better milage cars. So next summer i plan one buying a frs or brz, leaning towards a frs. my jeep will become basical just my weekend toy and what i use to make deliveries for my company in. i hope to be going out to some local meets agin soon.

wow i just wrote a small book lol.

Hey guys. New boy here.

I work for Hyundai, I build em. I have a 2012 Genesis Coupe 3.8 R-spec, its only track time has been 40 laps on Atlanta Motorsports Park. I fell in love with the car that day and then began to neglect it almost as quickly as I got back into the real world.

When driving quickly you can overlook most of the flaws. Most ...I found it too tedious to heel toe due to the lack of a 1:1 throttle ratio, awkward pedal placement, and the horrible shift gating and the linkage assembly (Why???WHY A LINKAGE). Even if your mind is 3 steps ahead (As it should be) and your head is on the course, and you are a good driver. you are going to botch shifts often, especially when you have to time those shifts to your feet ALA rev matching. (maybe my car is just broken).

you can even overlook the very clunky way the traction control still interfferes when it is disabled, yes. There is nothing more annoying then clearing a crest with your rear axle, when suddenly "God" decides to apply a brake somewhere that stops your slip angle from increasing naturally. It makes you want to lift.

You can overlook the way the traction control when enabled, when it detects slip of any kind totally removes throttle control for 2 seconds. That is all it seems to do, cut throttle. Which is a hazard on the street in my opinion but again you won't notice this really on track because if you keep your FOOT TO THE FLOOR the traction control turns the car into an AWD handling wise (Gist of it? traction control works fine if your keep your foot to the floor, if you try to modulate pedal as a good driver should it kills your ignition and fuel for about 2 seconds)

Only one thing really pushed me into the genesis. 25% employee discount baby ....

Take my advice, even with 7-8k off sticker ..I would not make the same decision again.

Is it any question I want the BRZ???? I will name it squishy and it will be mine! and it will be MY SQUISHY!!! (I am awkward ..) But seriously ..it is like I met ..an angel. And I cant stop thinking about her. I have become OBSESSED with this platform.
