Just a question Jesusdude. Looking for facts. Sorry you had, I suspect, a bad transmission. If you did, I hope you got it fixed to your satisfaction.

The transmissions can have bad syncros. Those in turn have the potential to kill your clutch prematurely. All in all, it's a shit sandwich many have had to take a bite from. And saying "nuh-uh" doesn't do much in the way of solving problems, does it?

I think this pretty much sums up my thoughts on about half of the people on this forum.

ANYTHING negative gets said about the 86 and half of this forum gets out their torches and pitchforks. It's like some of the people on here are so insecure that if something negative gets said about the car then it completely invalidates their purchase. Someone sells their 86 and buys a Civic because it is a better car for them and half the forum attempts to crucify them. The 86 got beat around the track by a Fiesta?! That's impossible! That means this isn't the greatest car ever made?! Which means that I don't own the best car ever?! My head just exploded!!

It is okay for there to be criticism of the car. It doesn't invalidate your purchase. It can still be a great car and the perfect car for you.

Not sure if you meant to quote my post on this but I don't see how this post relates to my post that you quoted.

I wouldn't be worried, you drive the same car, you tell me if you're worried. Yes they did skimp out on some things that makes the car better, but thats why its cheap.

I posted Subaru's rebuttal in my thread. They simply blamed me for abuse and modification despite zero evidence of either and over 10 years of driving exclusively MT cars. Other people got better treatment by Subaru or Toyota, dependant entirely on the dealer. That left me with a pretty bad taste in my mouth, especially since I own two Subarus and expected a little loyalty.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the car, I've had much better luck with the 2nd tranny. I will, in all likelihood, be lemoning the car. But I fully intend on buying another. It's an awesome care with amazing potential, but they laid quite a few eggs in the first year, much like many manufacturers do. It happens. What ticks me off is people maligning CR despite having no understanding of how they do auto reviews, and people minimizing problems with the car, which does nothing to pressure manufacturers to fix obvious flaws.

And I'm sorry for being combative, I deal with people at work all day who are the same way. Sometimes it's hard to shut off.

Btw, I completely forgot I still had a subscription to Consumers Reports online (idiot I know but I saw the charge pop up on my CC bill) and here's the report from CR:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/rup7w37dgf...20Overview.pdf

It's actually not as bad as people made it out to be - not good on the reliability front but that could mean a whole bunch of things.

It never is. Every internet forum I've been on must meet a quota of resident pant-shitters and doomsayers every time something on the internet doesn't meet their perfect preconceptions of something they own or believe. Which is why I enjoy being a voice of reason and realistic expectations.

Soo... how's the most newly delivered BRZ fare these days? Any of the mentioned issues still present? Or have they fixed them with the most recent built ones?

Maybe Porsche is bribing them too, Motor Trend overloads their videos Porsche love because Porsche bribes/shows favoritism for them.

Looks like the fuel system is the only black marked aspect. Wasn't that the part developed by Toyota?

Is the chirping a fuel pump problem, and is that thus a part of the fuel system?
