I don't think it works on a yearly basis here. It is a one off fee, so unless I sell the plates, it will be with me/car forever.

The price for personalized plates is absurd, IMO. Maybe if it covered registration as well, but no way. Even $50 a year.. really??

This makes a hell of a lot more sense, and frankly justifies the higher charge. Can you transfer the plates car-to-car, or are they only valid as long as you own the car?

Yeah, I can transfer it to any other car, so it can be sold too.
There isn't any other I can swap my plates to though, unless I get another 86, lol.

So you couldn't take it from a GT86 and transfer it to a Ford Mustang (which you guys will start getting next year, if I am not mistaken)?

Ohh, I meant my particular plate being so model specific. It would look weird on the mustang.
No idea if we'll get it, we'll see.

it's $250 in ontario, a one time fee, and you have them until you surrender them back if you wish to do so
that's why i have my old plates from 2005 that read brzr on an frs.....a weird coincidence i guess
and maybe one day i'll change them.......maybe not

Each State in AUS has different pricing and rules

Queensland is as follows (these are a once off cost for life and can be transferred or sold)

NSW for instance is an annual fee.

NT is a once off $140 fee for life

$445 = 3 letters 2 numbers or vise verse colored Background
$495 = 3 letters 2 numbers or vise verse Styled Background
$495 = 3 letters 2 numbers or vise verse Sports team Styled Background
$695 = European style plates
$1095 = 2 Letters 2 Numbers on a flexi material plate
$2395 = 4 - 6 characters
$2500 = A Plate (Plates has to have a letter A) then 2 -5 characters
$3295 = 7 characters
$3500 = ID Plate with 3 characters
$5000 = ID Plate with 2 characters

That is all of our options

Wow you guys get shafted bad. In Western Australia its $465 for 7 characters and $570 for 9 Characters, Slim plates or normal and a range of colors. One off payment no annual crap.

I got slim plates in black with white lettering with SUPER86. Because it's an 86 and its supercharged.
