It's a poorman's Cayman S: they're both driver's cars with a focus on the driver, with excellent steering and suspension... it's just that the Cayman S is more in every way (performance, power, comfort, speed, and cost) compared to the Twins.

There are several members here who sold their Cayman S's for an FT86. As good as the Cayman S is, they are expensive to maintain and track. The FT86 is the practical Cayman for those who want a reliable daily driver that you can also track and not spend an arm and a leg to maintain.

Having never owned a German sports car, I wouldn't know about how much of a pain in the rear maintenance is. I just know it's expensive compared to the twins. I do know it'd be an incredibly awesome car to drive.

They are averaging about 5K cars a month. At some point Volvo will either have to turn sales around or leave the US market. While most car companies have returned to 2007 car sales numbers Volvo is well below.

If you are going to do a 2-3 year lease a Volvo might make sense, but no way I would buy one until the company turns things around. All one has to do is look at Saab to see what can happen to resale, parts, etc when a brand disappears.

At the pricepoint of a Volvo I would much rather have an entry level Mercedes, BMW, or Audi if you want the badge and more of a luxury ride. For $60K I would just buy a used Cayman S that has a warranty..

Whatever you pay for parts and labor on a Subaru, triple it for a Porsche. Unless you do the work yourself, and even then parts are going to cost considerably more.

Not to mention the fact that its mid engined so everything major takes even longer to do.

Maybe its just me but does 2000mi/month not seem that crazy?

Even if you assume 4 weeks/Month that's 500mi/week or 100mi/day or 50 mi each way for a commute.

See as he said its mainly Freeway, I couldn't Imagine any car being uncomfortable for less than a 1hr drive each way.

Just my initial thought. If I was getting paid to drive those Miles I would pick literally whatever I wanted.

Cadilla ATS is an awesome car for highway travel and an occasional twisty but it is considerably more than a BRZ. At most dealers, the cheapest ATS is in the $40K range.

I hate German cars (from past experience) but with a lease and a warranty I would most likely go with the MB.

I like the new ATS too. I was really like the MB CLA-250 from the pics I saw online and then I saw it in person and was disappointed. I guess I am more of an Audi guy. I really like the look of their cars lately and have always found them to have impeccable interiors and decent to drive.

This is a bit high for most repairs, in my experience, especially compared to a higher performance Subaru. I'd say it's more like 1.5-2x most of the time, depending on the job. There are a few extra little things that can add up fairly quickly though, and if anything major goes wrong, it's a lot of money. They are pretty reliable most of the time though - anecdotally, the people I know with older BMWs (similar age to my Porsche) seem to need to do significantly more work on them than I have had to do on my Cayman.

I'm at IT contractor and my work travel destination is the same every week which is 200+ miles one way. I leave my home on Monday mornings and drive back on Fridays noontime so most or almost all of these miles are freeway so, I need a comfy and preferably a powerful cruiser. I saw good lease deals on S60 and will probably swing a test drive. Volvo was not in my radar before but S60 has good power specs as I found out.

Make a list of cars and test drive them all. The only way to find the right car.

1) Volvo ain't going anywhere. They have a huge backer in China.

2) Porsches are amongst the most reliable cars to own in the long run (look it up). Yeah their parts cost a lot but it's not often they need replacement.
