I drive 600 miles a week and don't mind the BRZ, if I drove 2000 miles and spent most of the time on the interstate I would have gotten something else. You have the Cayman so when you need a fun car you're already covered.

Personally, I'd get neither. I've never been terribly impressed with the lower end Benzes, and I don't think the FR-S/BRZ is what you want for long distance cruising, especially since you already have a Cayman as a fun car. I'd get a 128i (or wait for a 2 series) or an A4 instead. Comfy, sporty (but not a full sports car), quiet, and good for long trips.

Yeah I did read... and I understand that you get paid for the mileage but...

By your facts you get paid $1130 to sit in a car per month. I'm assuming your lease is roughly $250 a month.

Over the length of your lease(assuming 2years) you will have put 48k miles on the car. Assuming the lease is 12k miles per year you will get hit with a penalty of $3600(.15 per mile over 12k miles).

Over the course of 2 years-
$27120 for your mileage
-$6000 for your lease payment
-$3600 for you mileage overage (assuming 12k per year)
-$5544 for gas(66gal per month[30mpg] at $3.50 per gal)
=$11976 in your pocket not including cost of ownership for the car(insurance, maintenance, misc. repairs)

So after all is said and done you will pocket $6000 per year. When you divide that by 12 it's $500 per month.

If you add that to the lease cost(assumed) you could spend up to $750 on another lease before out of pocket expenses. The price would differ if you were buying instead of leasing.

If I was in your shoes I would most likely drive the Caymen everyday. Assuming you paid new no money down your payment is roughly $800-$1000.

If I got paid to drive I would spend the most time in the funnest car I could afford and pocket the rest for track days and tires.

It sounds like you want a comfortable/refined car with good power for long highway trips. That is not a BRZ. Cars I would consider:

- mk7 GTI
- Mustang GT (or V6 if you need better fuel economy)
- Charger/Challenger
- Accord/Camry V6
- G37
- 135/335

The twins are essentially the po'man's Cayman S. Since you've already got it, there's no need to get a BRZ.

I drive 40 miles or more each weekday in my BRZ, most of it freeway. Nowhere near as fun as the backroads, but freeways are boring even in fast straightline cars (b/c traffic and cops keep you from fully unleashing the straightline power), so the BRZ is still more fun than the more beastly cars. The car is perfectly comfortable. If it gets to be a bit of a bother, I'll get recaros. I also think upgrading to better tires will help since even though the goal there is better grip, the ride quality is sure to go up compared to those hard, crappy HP Primacy tires.

So the BRZ is plenty comfortable (I drive the limited, so I've got the better seats + heated seats for the cold), and I don't think 2k per week would bug me much in it (it would in my 05 Forester, though... most uncomfortable seats EVER... my back would be in agony after a mere 30 minutes driving that car unless I had a very very firm lumbar pad). It's certainly more comfortable, IMO, than my STI or WRX were.

But considering you've got the Cayman already, go for the Benz. Way more comfortable, as it's German luxury. Hard for even Japanese luxury to beat that.

This nailed it. I think power and refinement are what I'm looking for this 2k miles a MONTH (500 miles/week) trips. I'm now checking BMW 3s, Cadillac ATS (did I just say that?!), VW GLI, Infiniti Gs, and my favorite website Swapalease.

I'd look at Audi A4s as well (or S4s, if they're within your budget, but they're quite a bit more)

I have had two relatives lease Volvo's and they will never lease or buy another again. Those things were in the shop as much as they were on the road. Aside from that, there is a good chance Volvo could be leaving the US market. Lots of rumors and sales are really poor here in North America. If you are going to spend that much better off getting a Mercedes, Lexus, BMW, Audi, etc.
