Wasn't too bad yesterday in the snow. Car handled the weather better than any of my turbo Minis did.

I was actually surprised how well the snow tires worked, I had a set on a 3 Series coupe and they didn't help that much even with the weight of a big dumb stereo system in the trunk. I don't have anything in the trunk for weight & wasn't sliding around or spinning the rear wheels that bad. Was comfortable doing like 45 down LSD on the way back from the loop. Getting on to it from North Ave. (coming off LaSalle) was a bit iffy due to overconfident SUV drivers...

It's the overconfident SUV drivers that I am most concerned about. I had a few incidents just today where I had to be very aware where the SUVs were because they were making some really awful lane changes without regard to what/who/whether there cars next to or around them. It's amazing. It's as if it snows and their mirrors/ability to look left and right completely disappears. I have noticed this for years in the Chicagoland area and it's completely ridiculous. It just goes to show you though why there are so many in the ditches when there is bad weather.

Yeah, I was passed like I wasn't moving when I was on LSD by a CLS & an E class, both 4-Matics... the guy in the E almost lost it changing lanes. AWD doesn't mean you will never lose grip.

I saw 4 accidents yesterday. 2 minor collisions, and 2 spin outs with the vehicles facing oncoming traffic. All involved trucks or suvs

So far the ExtremeContact DWS is pretty solid... no real sliding unless I caused it intentionally. Lets see how they handle as winter progresses....

My first winter with my car. I thought it would handle a little better with stock tires...I was wrong. I went sideways real quick with a car right next to me and it made my butt pucker for a second. I think I'm investing in snow tires.

Even with a layer of packed snow the DWS tires did pretty good this morning. With TC on its like driving in the rain, no big deal just don't be an idiot.

With TC off it gets more interesting but is completely manageable and makes for fun low speed sliding

Yay for not needing winter rubber for this car

I picked up a set of nearly new dunlop sp m3 on dual drilled wheels from CL with lugs for 600. Some slipping when going over 50 on sunday while it was snowing but that's about it.
