looks nice! Does make the trunk look better haha. Never understood why it was not on there in the FRS.

Let us know if it actually helps with the plate sound....I'm thinking about getting one myself, and that's the primary reason.

Taillights came in! Took a little longer than I would've liked because I had to move my sub from my OEM Audio+ system, but they look great! Here's some crappy iphone pics.

Great pics, and great progress so far! I actually used to live in the corner apartment (first window) above the Orpheum in this pic.

Looks good! How is the warranty stuff working out for you so far? My project is on hold as Subaru is replacing my car, but still no definitive ETA on that.

Thanks! It's actually going in Monday to a new dealer. SOA has been great in helping me out and finding me a good dealer. I have a long laundry list of everything I need. If they fix it all, I will be 100% in love with my car again. I'm optimistic. It might just be dealer talk to make me feel better, but the service manager didn't want me to bring it in this week because the guy who is their in house "expert" on our cars in on vacation and he's the only one that the manager wants to work on it.

It's hard to tell with things like that. I was thoroughly impressed with my dealer's service department though, they actually initiated the replacement process while I was working on drafting a letter to let them know I want a replacement.

Best of luck!

Got my CS style rear spats installed today. Will post pictures tomorrow.

The car is finally going in for it's big "fix" day. Literally have a 2 page paper written out with everything wrong. I hope that I can report back that everything is fixed. I'll probably be driving a Corolla for a week or two while my car is in the shop. Won't be able to have as much fun but hopefully it means my car will finally be the way I want!

Please post your 2 page paper of things wrong with it.

I have a BRZ and the only things wrong were the tail lights and nav (not applicable on FRS). Both now fixed under warranty. Well, the nav is fixed, fingers crossed on the tails lol

2013 Whiteout FR-S Problems

Transmission grinding (into 4th, down from 6th to 5th)
When driving on interstate sitting in 6th for a few minutes, rev match and shift into 5th. A bad grind will happen that literally makes me nervous to shift. Also, when shifting into 4th over 6000rpm, it will grind. Notchy grinding inconsistently into 3rd and 5th. 5th gear will sometimes grind from 4th if shifting quickly (hard to replicate). Many people on the forums with cars from the same time period have the same problems but the dealer replaced the clutch, transmission, and everything else involved. This fixed the problem. Dealers have said that these cars had a “bad batch” of transmissions made during this time. A Toyota regional representative came out and replicated it back in Nebraska.

Transmission chatter/rattle
Video of the sound. If I am slowing down from like 45mph, and put the car into neutral to coast to a stop, the shifter will rattle/chatter around 25mph. Also, when the car is “cold” if in neutral, the transmission will rattle and when revved at all, it rattles more. Some on the forum have said their dealers say it is the throwout bearing being melted. Hopefully this could be replaced with the rest of the transmission.

Axle clicking
Video of the sound. It used to be a lot worse but my wheel nut was tightened and it’s not as bad. Still happens inconsistently while in reverse after sitting overnight. Will always happen when under load with the parking brake on. People have had their axles replaced already. My car has never been tracked and has only been a street/daily driven car.

Fuel Pump chirping
Video of the sound. Only started happening once I had to use anything with 10% ethanol

Throttle blipping causes click/ping
Only when under load and driving, if I blip the throttle to rev match, there is a weird click/ping from the engine area.

Rattles on driver side and passenger door, behind steering wheel, passenger side dash, and third brake light.
Literally OCD with any rattles. All of them are inconsistent, but do happen every day. A friend of mine had a dealership dynamat the doors and trunk lid which helped.
Brake light rattles with any bass and also when accelerating. My sister sat in the back seat with the bass on and could put her hand on the light and feel it.
Something in the trunk rattles when traveling at a high speed.
The one behind the steering wheel comes and goes but when it happens, it’s very loud and annoying.
Passenger dash is the most annoying and the hardest to pinpoint. I have no idea what it could be.
With the seats down, no rattling. Once the seats are up and the latches go back and forth, they make an annoying click.
If there is anything that really annoys me the most about this car, it is the rattles.
My stereo system had been installed by the dealer when I bought the car new, so I was told anything with it would be covered under the car’s warranty, such as rattles caused by it.

Thread on shift boot is frayed and loose
Hopefully get the boot replaced

Shift knob top is coming off
Not sure if anything can really be done except for a new knob?

Floor mats?
I know some dealers have replaced the floormats when they get really worn because they are not the best material. If not able to be replaced, not a big deal.

PDR dent above driver door
If the dealership has a PDR guy, could this possibly be fixed?

Time for oil change/2nd maintenance
It is passed the date for it’s 2nd maintenance/oil change. If possible at all, with the hopefully new transmission, I would like to have different transmission fluid. The dealer in Nebraska replaced my OEM transmission fluid with some synthetic fluid in an effort to help the grinding. I know people have had really good luck with Motul 300 transmission fluid, so maybe that would also help the transmission. I don’t want to put the Motul in myself because I’ve heard of some dealers refusing to work on the transmission once the customer changed the fluid.

Some of that stuff are not problems but I'd just like to see how well they will help out, especially with SOA on their tails.

Good luck, let us know what the dealer has to say about each problem when you get the car back.
